As Valentine's Day’s approach, we at The Amazing Blog wanted to find something memorable for both star-crossed lovers and singletons alike. This year, The Royal Observatory are hosting an evening that we think has a bit of an edge over your rather pedestrian dinner for two or a soulless singles party.
Catch a riverboat on the Thames or jump on the train to nip over the river to the beautiful setting of The Royal Observatory in Greenwich. They have a great night planned starting with their spectacular planetarium show (romantically themed of course). There’s also chance to look at the moon through their 18-tonne Victorian telescope and spend some time in the Meridian Courtyard standing on the Prime Meridian of the World - Longitude 0º (The line itself divides the eastern and western hemispheres of the Earth). All accompanied by a sneaky little glass of bubbly to whet the appetite for even more to come.
This evening also provides a great opportunity to visit the observatory out of hours and to meet a number of expert astronomers to ask them all your burning star-spotting queries. Staying on a romantic note, this stargazing affair also gives each couple attending a red rose - just in case your other half needs a bit of a nudge! Hurry now to get your tickets here as booking dates are only 9th and 14th February. The price is £40 each or £34 for Royal Observatory members.
