Pure Thoughts Whipped Shea Body Butter

NEW body butter blog image

The weather is changing at the moment, and with the onset of the first autumn chill comes our least favourite thing: dry skin. At The Amazing Blog we know that it is important to maintain our skin care routine, despite our busy schedules, to prevent the weather from affecting our skin. So, we have been trying out the Whipped Shea Body Butter by Pure Thoughts to banish any dry skin and keep our skin supple and moisturised.

We tried out the Tangerine and Jojoba flavoured body butter and the smell is amazing. It is really citrusy and the scent lingers on your skin long after application. This citrus scent is warm and tangy which has a calming effect and lifts the spirits. The body butter also comes in Lavender and Jojoba and also an unscented version.

Pure Thoughts have an all natural philosophy, and believe that natural skin care should mean only the best ingredients. The butter itself is composed of 100% natural ingredients and contains Shea butter, jojoba oil, tangerine oil and limonene… and that’s it! It has no nasties, such as parabens or added chemicals that can irritate the skin, so this butter is perfect for those with sensitive and dry skin. This also means that the product is gentle enough to be used on the face and body on a regular basis.

Shea butter is a wonderful ingredient that is rich and luxurious on the skin. It is particularly helpful for soothing dry and damaged skin due to its repairing properties - perfect for this cold weather! The jojoba oil moisturises and also restores balance to neglected skin. Not only does the butter soothe dry skin, it can also be used to relieve sunburn, reduce the appearance of stretch marks and it can help those who suffer from eczema and psoriasis, making this an all-round great beauty buy.

The butter is almost balm like, so only a small amount of product is needed to nourish the skin. Despite being an oil based product, the butter does not feel greasy on the skin; instead the skin feels instantly softer and more hydrated. This would be a fantastic product to apply before bed time so you wake up with soft and supple skin.

The Whipped Shea Butter retails for £11.95 for an 85g, which we think is fantastic value for money for an all natural product, made of the finest quality ingredients. You can get yours from the Pure Thoughts website. Pure Thoughts have been very generous in offering a special 10% discount on the Whipped Shea Butters for one week only; you can redeem your discount by entering the code AMAZING at the checkout.

ARK - Invigorating Body Scrub

blogAs regular readers of The Amazing Blog will know I’m a bit of a fan of the ARK Skincare range. I first discovered the brand when I was given their wonderful Nourishing Body Lotion  and as you will see from my post, I did rather eulogise about it! Still I have to say, that even today it’s one of my favourite Body Lotion. However, I am now reviewing their Invigorating Body Scrub l which I had my eye on for a while… And just to reiterate from my previous post, Age Appropriate Skincare , ARK Skincare has divided its skin therapy into three age appropriate product lines. Starting with ‘Age Prepare’ (late teens to early 30s), ‘Age Maintain’ (mid 30s to 50) and finally moving onto their ‘Age Repair’ (50 and beyond). This Body Scrub is part of the ‘Essential Skincare’ range and seems to span across all three of these age-related product ranges. ARK believes that there are two main skin transitional periods in the ageing process where there is a dramatic shift in hormone production and a significant change in the way the body functions; i.e. in late 20s to early 30s and late 50s to early 60s.  What I particularly liked about this Invigorating Body Scrub is that is very gentle but also extremely effective. It smells divine (echoing a similar fragrance to the Body Lotion) and contains small flakes of loofah (a very nice and natural ingredient), as well as Multifruit Acids and invigorating Mint.

As my beauty routine changes seasonally, this is the time of year when I need to have an excellent body scrub on hand. It is my essential item in order to keep my skin looking tip-top. As any regular user of fake tan will know, it’s crucial to exfoliate at least twice a week sloughing off the dead skin cells to keep an even looking tan for longer. This ARK Invigorating Body Scrub truly did not disappoint, it banished dry patches and energised my skin ready for a fresh application of my chosen fake tan. This tidy little 200ml tube at £24 really does now have pride of place in my shower and I’m sure will continue to stay there for many other seasons to come.

Bodhi - Flora Paradiso De-Stress Massage & Body Oil

Oil FrameAs everyone will know by now, one beauty product that I can't live without is body moisturiser; I need to feel my skin properly nourished 24/7. My skin is naturally quite dry, and these sudden temperature changes (ehem… anyone said Summer?) are making my skin feel dehydrated and quite tight. That is why I have put my tubs of body moisturiser and butters aside, and have gone for something richer and more concentrated to treat my thirsty skin. Their Flora Paradiso De-Stress Massage and Body Oil is a beautiful blend of sumptuous Ylang Ylang, High-Altitude Lavender and grounding Atlas Cedarwood. This oil is designed to help alleviating physical and mental stresses, having ancient massage rituals from the Balinese and Indonesia in mind. The great thing about Bodhi’s Flora Paradiso Oil is that its nourishing effect is super long-lasting; even if I apply in the evening, I can still feel my skin supple and deeply hydrated the morning after. Another good aspect of this oil is that is fast-absorbed by the skin and does not leave, to our surprise, that uncomfortable greasy residue on the skin. And its scent… is stunning: very relaxing and calming too.

As our fellow readers of The Amazing Blog will know by now, the girls and myself love the brand Bodhi. We have been lucky enough to try almost all of their products, and Elijah Choo’s (founder of Bodhi and the man behind the brand's beautiful blends) exquisite formulas have never let us down. Bodhi’s Flora Paradiso De-Stress Massage and Body Oil ticks all the boxes of what I look in a nourishing body product. Elijah, you never let us down.

Bodhi’s Flora Paradiso De-Stress massage and Body Oil can be purchased from their website and retails at £38.

Jardins D'EDEN - Indulge Body & Massage Oil

blog templateThe girls at The Amazing Blog know that I'm a big fan of a good body moisturiser - I go through tubs and bottles of it very easily. If there's something I cannot miss doing every morning and evening, is applying a good layer of body moisturiser or body oil. I describe myself as a true body moisturiser addict. When we were given the chance to try Jardins D'EDEN Indulge Body & Massage Oil, everyone at in the office knew that I had to be the one to give this treat a go. Jardins D'EDEN is a lovely brand directed by three sisters that after following diverse paths in life, decided to renew the family tradition trying to keep their father's dream alive, a highly-regarded maitre savonneur who started the family tradition of all-natural, olive oil based products in 1967.

The Indulge Body & Massage Oil is the perfect perfect to add to any pampering session after a stressful day... although any excuse is good to use this gem. After using a thick salt scrub, I apply the thinest layer of this beautiful oil on my damp skin to guarantee a maximum hydration. Jardins D'EDEN  Indulge Body & Massage Oil is easily absorbed and it's a stunning blend of regenerating Rose, stimulating Geranium, sebum balancing Palma Rosa, decongesting Petitgrain and soothing Lavender essential oils - the Indulge Body Oil leaves delicate floral scent on the skin. It is ideal to use on dry skin types or on dehydrated conditions and after sun exposure.

Jardins D'EDEN has impressed me very much. I've been eyeing their website to buy some things myself, as my experience with their Bath & Body Oil has been superior. Their Bath & Body Oils retail at £25 and can be purchased from their website, Harrods and from Whole Foods from June on.
