Chamucos Clubhouse

Have you got the Friday feeling?!  Here at The Amazing Blog we all do and are very excited about the coming summer bank holiday weekend meaning a whole three days to enjoy the sun (Finally!), relax and throw a few indulgent cocktails into the mix! So we have done our research and found the perfect haunt.

Why not try the new ‘Chamucos Clubhouse’ launched by Tom Conran, the bar is located in Notting Hill downstairs from his ‘Crazy Homies’ Mexican restaurant. The bar is named after Tom Conrans super-premium tequila ‘Chamucos’ meaning ‘little devil’ in Mexican. The bar is decorated with Day of The Dead style street art depictions of the devil and a mural of lush Mexican jungle and beach. It also features comfortable leather banquettes with bright cushions handcrafted by Mexican artisans.

When sampling the tequila, don’t forget to try a cocktail made with Chamucos Tequila, it’s distilled using only 100% weber blue Agave and made in the alpine forests of Mazamitla in Jalisco with water drawn directly from the mountain rock. Classical music is played during the double distillation process (we are not quite sure what difference this would make but I suppose it can do no harm) which is undertaken by women only, due to their natural lightness of touch (of course). Some of the cocktails include Chamucos Margarita made with Chamucos Blanco, Lime Juice, Triple Sec and Agave Syrup and The Devil’s Punchbowl – a sharing drink made with Chamucos Blanco, Hibiscus Juice and Flower, Lime Juice, Agave Syrup and Tamarind.

If after a couple of the delectable cocktails you get the munchies don’t hesitate to try some of the food at Chamucos which is inspired by the street vendors and local taquerias and is freshly made to authentic recipes. Some of the dishes include typical Burritos, Quesada’s and tacos as well as surf and turf sharing plates and home made dips.

This little venue doesn't seem too devilish to us and sounds ideal for a Friday night with a group of friends… but lets see how we feel about this on Saturday morning after sampling a few of the 72 different tequila varieties...we will let you know!!

The Big Rooftop Tea & Golf Party at Selfridges

Well folks, it's a Friday, the sun is out and home time is drawing near so chances are you're pretty damn excited about the impending weekend, particularly given the fact that the temperature is supposed to reach highs of a whopping 29c. And while many Londoners will be revelling in the heatwave, heading for the abundance of parks we have on offer or hopping on a train for some seaside action, we at The Amazing Blog got a suggestion for anyone that wants to try something a bit different.

The Big Rooftop Tea & Golf Party at everyone's favourite department store, Selfridges, has been around since the end of May, but never has there been a better time to indulge in a bit of crazy golf. The most famous roof on Oxford Street has been transformed by Bompass and Parr into the destination of the summer, offering its visitors a round of crazy golf like no other. Part of the Big British Bang Campaign that Selfridges launched to celebrate all things British in the year of the Diamond Jubilee and the home-hosted Olympics, The Big Rooftop Tea & Golf Party certainly celebrate two British favourite past-times - a round of golf and a nice cup of tea!

And the award-winning Daylesford Organic Cafe is also on hand serving the highest tea in London, perfect for when you need a thirst-quenching tipple or two. Also on their menu is an array of delicious, organic food, all of which is sourced from their farm and is served within a playful picnic setting. Or, for the more mature, there's the option of winding down in the evening with a glass of Pimms as the sun sets over London's famous skyline.

Global Feast - Meet & Eat The World

While we at The Amazing Blog have certainly been guilty of harping on somewhat over the past fortnight about the Olympics, to provide readers who might not be so overly enthralled with Olympic-fever as us with something of interest, we wanted to feature an event which deals with another of our great loves: food. So if, like us, you've accepted the fact that Jessica Ennis's taught abs are completely out of reach unless a complete life overhaul is undergone, now is as good a time as any to indulge in some global cusine. And so we bring you The Global Feast.

Coinciding with The Olympics, London's best chefs and designers have come together this summer to launch Global Feast - a 20 date world dining event between the 25th of July and 13th of August, at The Old Town in Stratford. The event celebrates the diversity of London as it hosts the Olympics and welcomes visitors of every creed and colour from every corner of the earth. Taking place in a beautifully restored Victorian buliding, a beautiful, calm oasis has been created.

After being welcomed with a complimentary cocktail, guests are encouraged to wander through Worldscape - a giant model of the world which doubles as both a table and seating for Global Feats's guests. Each guest will dine in a unique part of the sculptural space,  sitting on the contours of its oceans, dining off its coastlines, illuminated by its cities and enshadowed by its mountains. A multitude of cultures and cuisines are being offered at Global Feast and each evening guests will have the opportunity to indulge in the entertainment, unique to one of the featured countries.

Carefully chosen food and drink will represent the best of both the wider world and local London. The menu will be created by the doyenne of underground restaurants, Kerstin Rodgers, a.k.a. MsMarmitelover of The Underground Restaurant.  Each night she will invite a new guest chef from the best of London Supper Clubs, celebrating their talents - and the vast diversity of their heritage.

Perfect for anyone passionate about food or culture, the Global Feast promises an unforgettable experience for anyone who wants to drink in the atmosphere of the games while enjoying some cultural cusine. For more information, menus, calendar, images and biographies of the teams and guest chefs - and to purchase tickets for the evening - go to the Global Feast website.
