Bach Rescue Range & Emotional Eating Kit

New blog image

Here at The Amazing Blog we are passionate about natural products, so we were very excited to be given the opportunity to try out some flower based remedies from Bach. We tried out their Rescue Range and the Emotional Eating Kit and enjoyed the multitude of benefits that came with each product.

We really loved Bach’s Rescue Cream, an intensive moisturiser designed for dry and sensitive skin. It was perfect for repairing very dry skin brought on by the colder weather, and seeing as we are already in November, it's a very appropriate product for the time being. The cream contains six flower extracts: Impatiens, Rock Rose, Clematis, Cherry Plum, Star of Bethlehem and White Chestnut. This distinct blend of flowers is designed to help bring clarity of mind when dealing with stressful situations, a lovely added bonus to a great moisturising product.

Also in the Rescue Range is the Rescue Balm, which again contains the natural flower extracts. The balm is designed to soothe dry and chapped lips which unfortunately at this time of year a lot of us suffer from. The balm is soft and instantly moisturised my lips providing a barrier to the harsh winter weather. This is the perfect lip balm to pop in your handbag during the colder months.

We also tried out the Rescue Liquid Melts, a small and fast dissolving capsule that releases four drops of Rescue to bring calmness when everything is getting a bit too hectic, again time appropriate. We think that this is the perfect, natural solution for those who are often stressed. I have personally used Rescue Remedy before driving lessons and exams at university and found it helpful for easing my nerves and becoming calm and focused. At this time of year where there are plenty of fireworks for both Bonfire Night and Diwali, Rescue Remedy is a wonderful solution to calm those who are unsettled by loud noises. Our Executive Editor, Edwina, has given her dog a couple of drops during fireworks to help to keep him relaxed. Bach also offer Night Liquid Melts to help you drift off to sleep when your mind is buzzing with the thoughts of the day.

The girls here at The Amazing Blog were all very interested in the Bach Emotional Eating Kit, a set of three flower essences, each with a different purpose, that can be used to help aid dieting and  healthy living. Crab Apple is used to promote self-acceptance, Cherry Plum for rational thinking and Chestnut bud to gain knowledge from past experience. The drops can be taken directly or added to mineral water. We found the drops were refreshing and helped to ease negative thoughts and helped to control cravings.

To find out more information about the Bach range, please take a look at the Nelsons website. You can purchase all the Bach products from the Boots website, where the Emotional Eating Kit retails for £11.49, the Rescue Cream is £7.99 for 50g, Rescue Balm is £5.99 for 5g and the Liquid Melts are £8.45 for 28 capsules.

Sobe Rice Bran and Mandarin Body Moisturising Pure Oil

sobepure BLOG imageDespite a lot of attention over the last few years, oils are by no means a new product in the beauty industry. In fact, they’ve been around for centuries and there are hundreds of varieties to meet every skin and haircare need. But lately more people are returning to the traditional beauty ingredients and using oils in their skincare routine. With essential oils having such great benefits for the skin and body, we at The Amazing Blog,  are always on the lookout for any fantastic products that contain essential oils. So in our plight to find the perfect beauty oils, we have been testing out Sobe Pure Oil. Sobe is a new beauty project by You Can Group, inspired by oriental philosophy, working with food elements from the deep-rooted Japanese tradition. They believe in the concept of food nourishing both your body and skin and therefore created a series of natural cosmetics made from effective recipes of essential oils and natural ingredients.

We had the pleasure to try out their Rice Bran and Mandarin Body Moisturising Pure Oil, an oil packed with antioxidants with hydrating and smoothing properties. The rice bran is thought to have firming, protective and nourishing qualities with the Mandarin having a stimulating and draining effect which can help with water retention and prevent cellulite. This means the oil tackles signs of skin ageing and gives your skin a new shine.

It comes in stylish frosted glass bottle with a pipette in the lid for easy use. A few drops on the skin is all that’s needed for you to feel the effects once it’s been rubbed in. With it being an oil, you may think that it would be very greasy but it’s not at all. It absorbs into the skin leaving it soft and silky. The smell is absolutely gorgeous, fresh and very luxurious, like you have just had a spa treatment. I absolutely love this oil, never have I thought to use pure oil on my body, but I have been converted thanks to the fantastic results. I think it’s an all year round product, but particularly in the oncoming Winter months, when the skin is drier and may need a quick pick me up.

Sobe Pure Oils and other cosmetic products are available to purchase from their website, with the Rice Bran and Mandarin Body Moisturising Pure Oil retailing at €29.50 for a 15ml bottle.

Madame La La Tan

madame la la blog image thurs The tanning industry is an incredibly popular one, especially at the moment because none of us are going to get a tan in this frosty weather. At The Amazing Blog we would rather our bronzed glow come from tanning creams and sprays than exposing our skin to UV rays on a sun bed. In the run up to the Christmas party season we have been trying out self tanning products to make sure we are fearless when it comes to revealing a little flesh in our Christmas dresses. One product we all agree on is the Madame La La Tan, in fact, we love this tan so much, that our Executive Editor will be taking it away on holiday with her!

Madame La La Tan is a self-tanning DD mousse (Dynamic Do-all); it is lightweight and gently tinted to leave you with a natural looking glow without the risk of looking orange. It is perfect for any fake tan first timers out there as the mousse leaves a guide colour on the skin during application so you know exactly what you have covered which means you have even and streak free coverage. This guide colour also means that you are instantly tanned, which is perfect if you are in a rush. The tan will then take approximately 4 hours to develop into a sun kissed golden glow which lasts for up to 10 days, and it even fades naturally just like a real sun tan.

To use the Madame La La Tan, we recommend exfoliating your entire body before moisturising drier areas such as knees, elbows and ankles. Then pump the mousse directly onto a tanning mitt and smooth over the skin, taking care to ensure you have covered everything, then leave to dry for 5 minutes before dressing.

There is a delicious tropical coconut fragrance upon application so you are not left with a horrid biscuity smell that might giveaway your tan as fake. Unlike other tanning products we’ve used, it is not at all drying on the skin. The mousse contains Coco Water which is hydrating and smoothes the skin while preventing streaks. It also boasts anti-aging Aloe Vera and green tea leaf extracts which are also hydrating and repairing.

The Madame La La Tan is now available in the UK and you can get your from their website where a 200ml bottle is £36.

Surya Brasil Henna Cream and Restorative Colour Hair Mask

Surya Brasil Blog image Here at The Amazing Blog, we love to experiment with our hair depending on the seasons, and this includes dying our hair regularly. However, chemical dye treatments are very damaging to the hair, and so it can often end up dry and unhealthy, which is not a good look! We have recently been using Surya Brasil’s Henna Cream to prevent further chemical damage to our locks and the Restorative Colour Hair Mask to repair the damage that has already been done.

The Surya Brasil Henna Cream hair colour treatment is semi-permanent henna based hair dye containing herbs and fruit extracts that deeply condition the hair. This dye is far less damaging than conventional chemical hair dyes, as it contains no ammonia, PPD, parabens, peroxide or artificial fragrances. We have tried the Henna Cream in the shade Burgundy which transforms dark brown hair to a rich chestnut red and blonde hair a stunning auburn shade, and we think that it is the perfect autumnal colour.

We also tried the Amazonia Preciosa Restorative Colour Hair Mask from Surya Brasil for colour damaged hair. This wonderful organic mask can be used twice weekly after washing your hair, and then left on for ten minutes, resulting in healthier, hydrated hair. The mask contains Buriti oil which is rich in vitamin A that protects the hair colour while giving extra long-lasting shine. We found the mask a real treat for damaged hair as it was incredibly moisturising and left our hair feeling salon smooth.

If you want to try out  natural hair care and colouring, visit the Surya Brasil website where you can find more information on the range of products on offer. You can purchase these treatments from Your Tonic where the Henna Cream retails at £12 and the Hair Mask is £10.35.

Orchard View Naturals Capsule Collection

Orchard View Naturals BLOG image Here at The Amazing Blog, we realise how important it is to take care of your skin and treat it with essences of nature to keep it at its healthiest and purest. Apart from our love of different creams and lotions for the skin, we have come to realise the power of using essential oil blends to help maintain vitality. Recently, we found out about a new company called Orchard View Naturals that is combining beauty along with natural aromas to create oil blends that are suited for every different skin type imaginable. We were able to sample their Facial Oil Capsule Collection and were so nicely surprised by the range we had to share it.

The Orchard View Naturals Capsule Collection box contains five different facial oil blends in beautiful purple bottles, each suited for different skin types. Triple Rose oil is well suited for dry, dehydrated, dull and aging skin. It smells lovely, like a rose garden. The Orange Blossom oil is also suited for these purposes as well as mature skin and those who have large pores. People with normal to combination skin will find that Rose Geranium best suits their needs, while those with oily and breakout prone skin will like Tea Tree the most. Infused Marigold oil is recommended for those with sensitive skin. You will find that these oils are interchangeable most of the time, and the included leaflet really helps you determine what is best for your skin. One of the best parts of the oils is that they smell absolutely wonderful. They have been designed so that the scent lingers, but isn’t so strong as to upset sensitive noses. You will want to use these oils very sparingly, about one to two drops for each use and massaged into the skin with circular motions.

Orchard View Naturals can certainly boast about their skincare as it is all 100% natural and 99.5% organic. There are also no parabens, bleaching agents, or detergents in their products. These facial oils have been very carefully designed and are lovely for you or as a thoughtful gift to someone who enjoys skincare. You can purchase the Facial Oil Capsule Collection by visiting the Orchard View Naturals website where it retails at £45.
