My Tiger Bag

When it comes to bags for life – y’know, those canvas or heavy duty plastic affairs, readily available at check out points in supermarkets, one rarely thinks of such accessories as the height of chic. They’re there to serve a purpose – and a worthwhile one at that – but certainly don’t win any brownie points in the world of fashion.

So hoping to do my bit for the environment without wanting to make a sacrifice in the style stakes, I was delighted when I came across My Tiger Bag – an online retailer selling a beautiful, reusable bag with extra kudos for its tiger design and stylish metallic finish.

They come in four colours – blue, bronze, gold and pink – and as well as using material that comes from recycled plastic bottles, a donation of fifty-pence from the sale of each bag is made to the WWF Save The Tiger Fund.

Combining green living and fashion with a charity donation makes the My Tiger Bag a real must have for anyone with a conscience - for this season and beyond. Get yours before they become extinct - and at just £5 a pop, they’re in danger of doing so very soon!

Villages of Hope Bra Bank Initiative

Here at Amazing PR we love an excuse to go shopping and what better reason than donating all our old bras to a good cause meaning we have a legitimate excuse to go and buy pretty new underwear?! I’m sure all woman have at least a few unwanted or off-white bras hanging around at the back of the chest of drawers that we have either outgrown or got bored of and will never see the light of day again. And let’s face it, as much as we may love the comfort and durability of our 3-year-old no nonsense bras sometimes we need to have a good old spring clean.

Until the 1st July (so be quick!) charity initiative 'Bra Bank' is encouraging women to donate their old and unwanted bras to send to remote villages in Kenya and Zimbabwe through the charity Villages of Hope to give those in need a little physical support and comfort with the help of a pre-loved bra. The Villages of Hope charity provides food, education and healthcare to needy communities, and the bras will be donated to women there, so they have the physical support they need while working their land and looking after their children. By donating old lingerie you will be able to help communities across the world in a practical way and know that after the vital support the bra has given you, it can go on to help someone else. Any bras not shipped to Africa will be recycled by BCR Textiles who pay £1 per kilo for bras collected and send a cheque directly to the Breast Cancer Campaign (www.breastcancercampaign.org).

Bra Bank are asking for any style of bra (preferably not too sexy or see-through) and any size, especially very large or very small sizes (maternity or nursing bras are fine). Please wash all bras before donating them and check the straps and clasps are in working order and there are no rips or tears. Please note they are only collecting bras, so no knickers/other lingerie.

Go to www.bracollect.co.uk to find your nearest Bra Bank or send your unwanted bras to:

Amazing PR on the Mongol Rally (well sort of…)

We have been feeling very adventurous over the last couple of weeks at Amazing PR HQ...albeit vicariously through our friends Richie Squire and Fred Hermon and their trusty Suzuki Jimny, Taffy. The boys - team name 'The Chase' - set off on the Mongol Rally two weeks ago. An experience which prides itself on being the ultimate adventure for anyone brave (or foolhardy) enough to tackle a journey which will take you a third of the way around the world, with no set route, no backup and no support, the ultimate goal being to reach Mongolia in one piece. The promise of  'a bit of unknown in a world full health and safety measures' was a siren song to these two...and has guaranteed six weeks of sleepless nights and worry for the girlfriends and mothers left at home.  Putting all their faith in a car that strictly speaking shouldn't have been able to make it to the ferry at Dover, (engine size is strictly limited and anything too new or with any 'mod cons' - power steering/air conditioning, is frowned on, all part of the 'fun' apparently?!) let alone to the dirt tracks of the Kazakh desert could make for some interesting experiences. Their route will take them east across Europe and onto some less desirable holiday destinations including Turkmenistan, Iran, Uzbekistan and the aforementioned Kazakhstan.

And if you're still not convinced on the thinking (or lack of it) behind the whole mission, the boys are also aiming to raise as much money as possible for a very special charity, Trinity Hospice. Trinity provides long-term respite care for the terminally ill and, as it only receives 36% of its funding from the government, it needs to raise about £5 million a year to keep on providing this invaluable help - http://www.justgiving.com/Trinity-Hospice

Amazing PR are backing the boys the whole way after becoming an official sponsor and with our new logo emblazoned across their car we are literally going with them all the way to Ulaan Baatar in Mongolia.

So even though we are safely ensconced in our office in Chelsea within easy reach of Whole Foods, Topshop and most importantly a shower(!), the most adventurous part of our day being the cycle across Battersea Park, it's nice knowing the Amazing PR brand is out there seeing the world!
