Age Appropriate Skincare

So we're mid-way through January, officially THE longest month of the year, and all the girls here at The Amazing Blog's HQ in Chelsea are still trying to abide by their new year's health kick resolution - some successfully, some not so! And as a bunch of professional beauty  junkies we were all delighted to come across Age Aware Skincare from ARK, a fabulous brand who happen to have a Skincare Centre  just round the corner from us in Fulham.

Founded in 1998, the first ARK Skincare Centre was launched in Fulham by Shula Starkey who wanted to create a luxurious salon experience that was both intimate and welcoming. Such was their popularity that they have since expanded into both Putney and Wimbledon, where they have become the leading destination for skincare fanatics - ourselves included!

Over a decade after ARK's first conception saw the exclusive launch of ARK Age Aware Skincare. Following on from 4 years of dedicated research, the skincare range is the result of a collaboration with Dr. Penny Kendall-Reed, a Naturopathic doctor and leading expert in preventative health and nutrition from Canada. Looking at the way in which skin ages, as opposed to specific skin types, they developed 'age appropriate' products for three age ranges: Age Prepare (teens to early 30s), Age Maintain (mid 30s to 50) and Age Repair (50s and beyond), thus pioneering an alternative way of looking after skin.

Offering ARK Age Aware Assessments, during which your skin is assessed to find the right solution for you, and a beautiful range of products that really work - and we've tried them - ARK offer a new and innovative way of looking after your skin that will change the way you treat it forever. My particular favourite is the Nourishing Body Lotion which is a combination of Shea Butter, Kukui, Coconut Oil, Sea Oak and Silk Proteins.  This body lotion quite literally feels like liquid silk when applied to the skin. Although it's £26 for 250 ml, a little real does go a long way so that's good economy in my book.  It is also without doubt one of the best long-lasting all round body lotions that I have ever used. I absolutely love, love, LOVE it!

Lift your mood with a little Abahna

Abahna is a quintessentially luxury British brand. Founded and run by Ed and Claire Croft, Abahna is a family run business and together the couple are passionate about sourcing natural ingredients and creating products that enhance your mood. It is definitely one my very favourite discoveries and hopefully it will become one of yours too.  All the products beautifully packaged and smell quietly literally as though they are ‘heaven scent’.

I find it very difficult to pick a favourite from the range of the four fragrances Mandarin and Sicilian Bergamot  (Uplifting), Lilac Rose and Geranium (Relaxing), White Grapefruit and May Chang (Refreshing), and the Frangipani and Orange Blossom (Soothing).

However, as we are all currently huddled up in the office at the Amazing Blog  looking out at rather bleak and grey London skies, we are definitely  in need of something to cheer us up.  So for now, my choice of Abahna fragrance has to be the delicious, warming and vibrant scents of the Frangipani and Orange Blossom Room Spray  (even Mojai the office dog gets a squirt!)  Out of all the essential oils Frangipani is probably the most uplifting with its heady aroma but when combined with the gentle orange blossom it blends to make a very special soothing scent. In a former life, I interviewed several esteemed massage therapists who told me that Frangipani essential oil is commonly used by many massage therapists in hospices to help give their patients a great feeling of euphoria. Interestingly, they classify it as their 'giggle juice'. Anyway, we are all now wafting in this wonderful mood-enhancing room spray, evocative of blue skies with racing clouds and lush green summer pastures. So roll on Spring!

100 Today

It’s Friday. This is our 100th blog post. So we do hope you’ll excuse us if we slope off to celebrate. We haven’t left you without a little bit of weekend entertainment though, check out our playlist of our top tracks to get us in the zone. These have gone through a rigorous office screening process, so we hope there is a little something for everyone. This has opened up our eyes to some of the rather unexpected music tastes of the Amazing PR team - Edwina has a penchant for trance (summers past spent raving in Ibiza...say no more), Katie has a dirty dubstep fetish, Jose is a fan of electronica (with a side of Kylie/Gaga) and Eleanor wishes we could just listen to a whole song instead of constantly flicking.

Until next week...
