Skin Laundry's Gentle Foaming Wash and Restoring Night Serum

The Amazing Blog is continuously updating our skincare regimen. Whether it’s with products, facial treatments, or newfound application tricks, we are always searching for ways to combat both oily and dry skin. We have found it to be quite tricky choosing products that fight oily skin, without over-drying the face. During our quest, we discovered Skin Laundry’s products, that leave our skin feeling smooth and clean. The company was founded by Yen Reis, who originally created this range of skincare to be used in conjunction with her laser and light therapy treatment. She established her first flagship in 2013 and has since expanded across the U.S., Hong Kong and London. Reis’ goal is to improve skin health and provide affordable and convenient treatments. The treatment that Skin Laundry offers, is with a combination of Yago laser and IPL which target and reduce redness, brown spots, inflammation and bacteria. Each treatment leaves the skin glowing and clean. Over time, and together with the Skin Laundry products, it improves clarity, tone and texture. If you would like to experience the laser and light therapy, combined with Skin Laundry products, then book here. Currently, these treatments are available in London, Leeds and Bristol.

The first product that we tried was Skin Laundry's Gentle Foaming Wash, which serves all skin types, especially sensitive skin. The mild foaming wash, free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates, is an everyday cleanser with a fresh scent of botanical extracts. The product contains shea butter and cucumber and chamomile extract. The shea butter fights dehydration, while the cucumber extract soothes and regulates moisture. Chamomile extract is also a soothing agent and anti-inflammatory. After massaging the wash onto damp skin for 30-60 seconds, rinse with water and pat dry. Skin Laundry recommends following the application with a toner to help seal the pores. The product works best if used mornings and evenings. The wash rids away dirt, and excess oils and impurities, without drying out or irritating the skin. You can purchase the 200ml bottle here for £20.

In addition to the  Gentle Foaming wash, we used the Restoring Night Serum and were pleased with the results. With its key ingredients, we have noticed a brighter, even complexion and overall rejuvenated skin. The primary focus of the product is on anti-ageing, with benefits that include brightening and tightening. The power of Glycolic Acid exfoliates and clears your pores of dead skin cells, reducing fine lines. Niacinamide has Vitamin B3 properties that remove blemishes and signs of ageing. A derivative of Vitamin C produces an even skin tone, battles photoaging and increases collagen synthesis. Finally, an algae extract, composed of vitamins and amino acids, stimulates the skins cell renewal. In the evening, massage 3-4 drops of the night serum onto your face and neck. Skin Laundry recommends applying the serum after your nightly cleansing and toning, and before moisturising. You can purchase the 30mL bottle here for £46.

Marina Miracle - Amaranth Face Oil & Night Serum

Skincare is an essential process in our daily regimen. Finding the perfect products that fight impurities, without irritating the skin, can be a challenge. The Amazing Blog noticed that the most coveted products are those created by people who understand our wants and needs from skincare. Marina Engervik, the founder of Marina Miracle, gets it. After being a victim of chemical-based skincare lines, Engervik found the solution with natural ingredients. Her formula treats all types of skin and is 100% natural. The Norwegian brand focuses its efforts on carefully selected ingredients, that are of high-quality, luxurious and safe. Marina Miracle products are both vegan and cruelty-free, and 90% certified organic.

We admired the company’s mission, which strives to be sustainable in all aspects of its business strategy – through the ingredients, packaging and supply chain. All packaging is made up of recycled paper and is compostable.  The company’s suppliers are chosen based on their respect for the environment, animals and people, by advocating to select fair-trade.  Additionally, when possible, products are shipped by sea.

The company’s drive to find natural alternatives, with healthier benefits, motivated us to try both the Amaranth Face Oil and Amaranth Night Serum. Both are anti-ageing and work to revitalise the skin. The face oil is hydrating and improves elasticity. After application, your skin is noticeably softer and left with a lasting glow. The all natural face oil has a soothing fragrance of ylang ylang and grapefruit and is made up of Scandinavian herbs, amaranth and Arctic cranberry extract.

The night serum’s aroma of oranges and flowers is soothing and refreshing. It contains amaranth, Argan, chia and natural fruit acids that rejuvenate and tone the skin. As you sleep, the serum soaks deep into the skin, moisturising and evening your complexion. After cleansing your face, shake the bottle well. Then, drip 4-6 drops onto the pads of your fingers, rub together and apply the product. Their Argan Night Serum recently won the 2018 Beauty Shortlist Awards Editor’s Choice. You can purchase the 28ml  Amaranth Face Oil here for £63 or the 28ml Amaranth Night Serum here for £87.

Esse - Repair Oil

Scaring of any size is a mark of life, but it’s no biggie to want to minimise their appearance. The trick is to find the right product. We prefer a natural product that will be gentle on the skin. Luckily, The Amazing Blog team discovered a Certified Organic treatment by Esse Probiotic Skincare, sure to reduce scarring on all skin types.

Esse was founded by Trevor Steyn, in South Africa, in 2002, after the formulating was complete. The company’s focus is on the probiotic microbes living in and on the skin. Their products create an environment on the surface that caters to the growth of beneficial microbes. Most importantly, Esse does not believe in harming skin in the quest for short-term results. As well as being Organic, Esse is vegan and cruelty-free. They also support fair trade and are a carbon neutral company. What’s not to love?

Esse’s Repair Oil is for all skin types, night treatment, and scar tissue repair. We’ve found that it does not leave excess residue on the fingertips after it’s been applied elsewhere. The golden hue of the oil disappears after it’s been rubbed into the skin, but the faint flower scent sticks around much longer.

We don’t know about you, but natural, readable ingredients get us excited. The Repair Oil contains a nourishing balance of omega fatty acids found in flax, marula, and rosehip. RegeMarula Oil includes anti-oxidants meant to strengthen and protect, as well as heal (as does rosehip oil). Not only does it contain fabulous omega fatty acids, but vitamin E is included in high doses to stimulate cell regeneration. Other advantageous oils include kalahari melon oil, which is high in omegas, and yangu and manketti, which are also high in omegas and omega-3s and demonstrate UV protective properties. Hello, healthy, stronger skin!

You can purchase Esse Probiotic Skincare Repair Oil 15ml for £36.00 here.

Avon ANEW Reversalist Infinite Effects Night Treatment Cream

Ageing is a natural part of life and with ageing, unfortunately, comes wrinkles.  If you keep up with us here at The Amazing Blog you'll know that we are always on the look-out for new anti-ageing products. Two things that we always look for in a good anti-ageing treatment are the ability to repair damaged skin and the ability to protect the skin from further wrinkles. We're happy to report that we have a product that claims to have both of our essential qualities: Avon’s Anew Reversalist Infinite Effects Night Treatment Cream. This is a rotational anti-wrinkle product that contains two different creams in one convenient pump action tube to help provide doubly effective results. We applaud Avon and their products as to date Avon has donated over £22 million to Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer charities.

Now, you may be thinking that with two different creams it's going to be complicated to use… However, this product is actually incredibly simple to use. The product is used in two phases, phase 1 and phase 2. During phase 1 you simply apply 2-3 squirts of the cream labelled ‘1’ to your clean and dry face each night. You repeat this same routine using cream ‘1’ for 7 nights. After 7 nights, you switch to use cream ‘2’ keeping the same application procedure as phase 1. After 7 nights using the cream in phase 2, you simply switch back to using cream ‘1’ again and the cycle goes on again.

These two phases work together to help prevent uneven skin tone, reduce fine lines and fix dark spots. The two different phases have different purposes in treating the skin. The cream in phase 1 contains a phyto+ complex that helps to replenish and prepare the skin. The cream used in phase 2 contains a super-retinol complex, which specifically activates skins receptors to boost collagen and repair existing wrinkles. These two Night Treatment Creams feel light and creamy on the skin while they provide a deluxe anti-ageing formula. You can purchase your own Avon ANEW Reversalist Infinite Effects Night Treatment Cream here for £17.95.
