Face Matters Skin Health - Serum, Balm and Cleanser

Living in London, it’s no surprise that we’re constantly around pollutants and toxic chemicals produced by one of the most metropolitan and commercial cities. In an environment such as this, your skin and health can often take a turn for the worse which is why at The Amazing Blog, we would like to reintroduce to you to one of our favourite brands  Face Matters Skin Health.

Founder, Sally Curson spent 30 years working in the beauty industry; as a therapist, within larger brands and also a product formulator. Although content and successful in the same, her life took a turn which resulted in the birth of this fantastic company. It all began when she suffered from rosacea and struggled to find products that helped and so began researching ingredients herself. Her goal is to offer the gentlest formulations that really work and to provide a range of natural/organic products that will be kind to both the skin and the environment.

Now with their NEW eco-friendly packaging (no cardboard or plastic bottles) and rebranding, their focus is on affordable luxury-quality products made from natural ingredients all made using reduced disposable packaging. The provenance of the ingredients contained in their formulations is integral to the whole brand. The products are made from natural and certified organic plant extracts, many of which are fair trade and sourced from small farms and producers. Each ingredient is assessed to ensure that it is totally pure. The artisan manufacturers are inspected annually by the Soil Association, who audit the ingredient trail from the farm to the finished product. Further, natural and organic skincare now has the ability to perform as well as synthetic skincare, whilst having the added benefit of feeding the skin in the best possible way. She kindly sent us three of her amazing products to review Face Off Cleanser, Face Food Serum and All About Face Balm.

The Face Off Cleanser is a super-efficient yet gentle formula ideal for removing makeup and all the everyday deep down dirty stuff. It leaves the skin soft, smooth and ready to glow and is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. Made with aloe, rose, lemon, calendula and burdock, the cleanser proves to be essential for healthy skin elasticity, density and radiance.  Face Off Cleanser is 100ml priced at only £25 here the cleanser is surely an investment everyone needs to make.

Up next we tried the Face Food Serum it is a lightweight oil-based serum to deeply feed and nourish the skin and is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. It is a super serum with key ingredients of safflower, calendula, lemon and sandalwood. Safflower is packed full of omega-6 and omega-3 essential fatty acids which are the building blocks of healthy cell membranes. These polyunsaturated fats also help produce the skin's natural oil barrier, critical in keeping skin hydrated, plumper, and younger-looking. Calendula is full of vitamin E which is non-greasy and quickly absorbed, keeping the skin healthy and moisturised, whilst soothing it simultaneously. Priced at £35, the serum is money well spent! 30ml priced at an affordable  £35 here.

Lastly, we tried the All About Face Balm which is a hardworking, multi-tasking balm. It can be used to pre-cleanse, cleanse and most importantly to nourish your skin. It leaves skin soft, nourished and ready to glow. It contains key ingredients of unrefined shea butter, jojoba, rose, geranium and clary sage. Jojoba is full of nutrients like vitamin E and B, as well as antioxidants and minerals like chromium, copper, and zinc, which all nourish and protect the skin. Organic, cold-pressed, jojoba oil has one of the highest levels of antioxidants and nutrients. Shea butter nourishes the skin with vitamins A, E and F. Vitamins A and E maintain the skin and keep it clear and healthy. These are particularly helpful for sun-damaged skin and to help prevent premature wrinkles and lines... And soften those pesky ones that are already there! 50g priced at £30 here, we think that this Balm is an absolute essential!

CeraVe - Hydrating Cleanser

Our skin goes through a lot on a daily basis. It’s exposed to the sun, cold temperatures, and pollution, and goes through the mill as a result of our stressful lifestyles. Add makeup to the mix, and it’s no wonder that we sometimes suffer from a blemish or two! To keep it looking tip top and fabulous, we are in agreement at The Amazing Blog, that you have to provide your skin with treatments that bear these variables in mind.

This is why we were more than excited to come across CeraVe, a skincare brand developed by dermatologists, using essential ceramides (lipids that help form the skin’s barrier and retain moisture) to repair and strengthen the skin’s natural barrier. Using MultiVesicular Emulsion Technology (MVE), moisturising ingredients are released over 24 hours, layer by layer, ensuring steady stream of nourishment.

Since launching with three core products in 2006, CeraVe have released 70 affordable, accessible and dermatologist-recommended solutions; to hydrate, restore and replenish your skin. It is also worth mentioning that they have received more Seal of Acceptance awards from the National Eczema Association, than any other brand before.

We tried their soap free, fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, non-irritating (yes, all these already make the product sound ideal before even trying it) Hydrating Cleanser. It is suitable for normal to dry skin and cleanses as well as hydrates, without disrupting your skin’s protective barrier. Besides that, the hyaluronic acid makes sure that your skin (face as well as body) stays hydrated 24/7. It also removes your makeup, as we were thrilled to find out, with just one wash. Unlike most face washes, this gentle cleanser doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight, dry or over-stripped, but rather it feels soft and hydrated. We were also pleased to find that there are no hidden fragrances. What more could we want?

To try CeraVe’s Hydrating Cleanser for yourself, check out the Boots website here, where you will find the 236ml bottle for just £9.00. If you’re unsure as to whether this is the product for you, then click here to find you personal skincare solution in three step.

PH7 Skincare Collection

As the autumnal equinox approaches, we at The Amazing Blog are starting to think about implementing a new season skincare regimen. We wanted to find a simple trio that would take us through the forthcoming transitory months with ease, and the natural skincare from pH 7’s Skincare Collection: Natural.Clean.Skin offered us just that. Our morning routine has now started with their thoughtfully formulated skincare products, their signature: Foaming Cleanser, Toner and Moisturiser. pH 7 Natural.Clean.Skin is formulated by US toxicologist Dr. Erika Weaver, PhD, who is committed to designing natural and toxin-free skin care products. During her schooling, Weaver learned about the effects of chemicals and the impact it has on our lifestyle and the environment, and wanted to make a change...

Our favourite of the trio is their Foaming Cleanser. It nourishes and restores all skin types, it made our skin feel 'squeaky clean' without leaving a hint of tightness. Key ingredients are rose water, witch hazel, honeysuckle, apricot kernel, rosehip, frankincense and sandalwood oils. So easy to apply, simply splash warm water onto the face, then pump 2-3 pumps and massage it in using circular motions. After rinsing thoroughly, and patting dry with a linen face cloth - you'll feel fresh awakened! Next, we used their Toner as a refreshing elixir to hydrate the skin. Key ingredients here include kombucha tea, aloe vera gel, vitamins E and C. Before applying, shake the bottle well and blot it onto a cotton ball. Remember to store this product at room temperature. As you let the skin absorb the toner, apply a small amount of Moisturizer,  which has some of our favourite ingredients such as coconut, sandalwood, frankincense and almond oils, all of which offer a great way to maintain hydration and protection.  You can buy each of the these separately, the Foaming Cleanser here for $14, or the Toner here for $10 and the Moisturizer here for $14. However, this trio can also be bought together here for $36.00.

Ruskha's Travel Try-Me Kit

We are always on the go at The Amazing Blog, so when we find 100% natural and vegan products that are also travel-sized our eyes light up.  Ruskha’s Travel Try-Me Kit contains two products; the Skin Awakening Cleanser and the Concentrated Youth Elixir. Ruskha is Bulgarian cosmetics brand founded by Rossy Antonova. They pride themselves on creating products with 100% natural plant ingredients, without using any fillers or synthetic/toxic substances. They also hand make their products in small quantities so that you always receive the highest quality.

First, the travel kit includes The Skin Awakening Cleanser, which works to remove dead skin cells and clean pores. We like this product because it gets the tough job done without drying out our skin. The cleanser contains French pink clay, thermal muds, white willow bark, liquorice, sandalwood, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, and soapnut. These all-star ingredients have a variety of benefits, including extracting toxins from the skin and soothing + cleansing. This cleanser comes as a powder, but all it takes to activate it is a couple drops of water. This cleanser has taken our skincare routine to the next level.

Secondly, we have The Concentrated Youth Elixir, a Pure Beauty Awards 2018 Finalist. It is wonderful for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This powerful elixir has the skin looking rejuvenated and radiant. This product contains 18 powerful ingredients some of which include: French lavender extract, Salicornia extract, mastic gum extract, Argan oil, and frankincense oil. This mixture gives the skin a healthy glow, as well as making the skin look younger and more hydrated. All it takes is 1-4 pumps of the elixir applied to a clean face in the morning and evening.

You can purchase Ruskha’s Travel Try-Me Kit that includes a 10ml bottle of Concentrated Youth Elixir and a 100ml bottle of Skin Awakening Cleanser, here for €59.

Pure Glow Nourishing Cleansing Balm and Metamorphosis Revitalising Beauty Oil by Nyasa

By now faithful readers, I am sure you are aware of how much we, at The Amazing Blog, favour holistic beauty. We all firmly believe that everything is intricately connected – if you drink plenty of water, eat healthy food, get enough vitamins and exercise regularly you’ll have much better skin than someone who doesn’t. As such discovering the brand Nyasa was a life changing one; in fact, we don’t know why we didn’t know about them sooner! Nyasa also believes in a holistic approach to beauty, after discovering that skincare, nutrition, health and energy are all interconnected. They too believe that our attitude and everyday routines combine to determine the quality of our lives. As such, Nyasa believe that our daily routines – including our skin care regimens – have the power to restore, refuel and recharge us. We were lucky enough to be sent two of their products from the capsule collection; the Pure Glow Nourishing Cleansing Balm and the Metamorphosis Revitalising Beauty Oil.

The Cleansing Balm is the ultimate multi-tasking cleanser; it melts softly into the skin while purifying and protecting your complexion, as well as drawing out daily impurities. The balm contains resurrection plant, pomegranate enzymes, sweet almond oil and a selection of essential oils. These ingredients help the product to support cellular vitality and draw out a beautiful natural glow from within the skin. All of which leads to a more radiant, a fresher and a more luminous complexion. Just massage gently into wet or dry skin, and use a hot wet face cloth to wipe away. For a deeper clean, leave on for 5-10 minutes before wiping away. The Beauty Oil helps to revitalise skin by nourishing it and boosting elasticity, reducing the appearance of fine lines, and reversing skin damage. This is made possible by the combination of anti-glycation properties. Apply 2-3 drops to fingertips and massage into the face, neck and décolletage. It absorbs effortlessly and works hard to support cellular renewal for a dewy, firm and plumper complexion.

The ethos of the brand means that the products are cruelty-free and none of them is tested on animals, and the beautiful packaging is made of entirely recycled materials. You can purchase the cleanser here for £50.00 and the oil here for £95.00
