King's Road

Upper West

We're always excited to hear about new fabulous openings close to The Amazing Blog's HQ, and this time it's Upper West's turn. Situated in Sloane Square right in the heart of Chelsea, Upper West is a New York inspired lounge, rooftop garden and nightclub.

Jad Lahoud, one of the minds behind Upper West, wanted to take the best of New York's iconic nightlife and put it all together under one roof. Jad has spent over a decade in the industry and was reponsible for the resurgence of South Kensignton's Amika; one of the ultimate destinations on London's nightclub scene.

The rooftop gardens of Upper West are spectacular - a perfect spot with views over the King's Road. The new club has also partnered with one of London's most innovative galleries, Notting Hill's London West Bank, to host regularly changing installations by the country's most talented urban artists. The displays will link with the capital's key events, such as London Fashion Week and the Frieze Art Fair. The artwork will also be available for sale for those who want to take a part of the Upper West collaboration with London West Bank.

Live music will be performed every night by both established and emerging talents. The Lounge will also offer an extensive drinks list, including a range of cocktails fand crafted by top mixologists, plus an eclectic menu of New York inspired dishes consisting of New York street food. We'll see you there in January... opening shortly keep an eye out on their Facebook page!

Chelsea Autolegends

So it appears that summer has finally arrived – albeit four months too late and due to last just another day or two before autumn kicks in with avengance. But if you’re after an outdoor pursuit in which to enjoy the last days of sunshine, might I suggest you pay a visit to the Chelsea Autolegends? Following the resounding success of last year, the event will be staged once more in the magnificent grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea on Sunday September 4th, showcasing the crème de la crème of motor-cars.

‘The Swinging Sixties’ theme of this year’s event is an apt choice thanks to its proximity to the iconic King’s Road – once the spiritual home of the hedonistic decade’s colourful fashion revolution; thus this is an affair for lovers of both trends and transport.

The Chelsea Autolegends promises to deliver the same relaxed garden party atmosphere it was praised for in 2010 and among other highlights on the day there will be an array of contemporary supercars and celebrations in aid of the 50th anniversary of the legendary E-Type Jaguar.

With funds being raised for the Chelsea Pensioners – residents of the Royal Hospital - via a number of activities including a special auction, you can do your bit for an important charity, while enjoying the sunshine and the swinging sixties…. What’s not to love?!
