Friday Favourites: Eye Products

We’ve almost finished our first working week of the year, and that means only one thing: it’s time for our Friday Favourites! At The Amazing Blog, we have to admit that we’re pretty lax when it comes to eye care. While we all agree that having a sparkle in our eyes is important, the constant strains of staring at a screen, working late nights, or even applying eye makeup, can take their toll. Today we present our recent finds that have helped us to look a little more awake - and ready to take on a New Year!.

Let’s start with Mitomo, a brand that provide high-quality beauty and health care products, all of which contain ingredients sourced in Japan. Their Eye Masks serve you with natural moisture, giving a unique treatment to the under eye region. We tried both the Snail + EGF Gold Mask and the Gold + Bee Venom Mask (both of which sounded very intriguing), and we were more than pleasantly surprised with the results.

The Eye & Nasolabial Mask with Snail Extract and EGF helps to regenerate damaged cells, both under the eyes, and around the nose, with natural components that improve your overall skin condition. The use of Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) helps to regenerate new cells, encouraging your under eye area to look brighter and smoother. On the other hand, the Anti-wrinkle Eye Mask with Gold and Bee Venom does exactly what it suggests, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. By promoting the production of collagen and elastin, this mask helps to create a radiant glow, deeply moisturising the area and promoting skin elasticity. Both masks are best applied for 20-30 minutes, and to make the most of the ingredients, the excess should be gently patted into the skin. You can buy each pack seperately for £3.29, the Snail and EGF mask here or the Gold and Bee Venom here. Alternatively each mask is available in a pack of 10 for £29.61.

Our second step for perfect eye care is Elizabeth Grant’s Supreme Cell Vitality Victory Eye Serum . We’ve reviewed Elizabeth Grant’s products before, namely her Suprême Cell Vitality Neck Creme. We were therefore keen to try an eyecare product, hoping it would prove equally moisturising and luxury. We were not disappointed!

The Supreme Cell Vitality Victory Eye Cream is a lifting and energising serum for the delicate eye area, perfectly suitable for all skin types. Inducing anti-ageing effects, it contains natural actives to reduce the appearance of under-eye puffiness, creating tighter feeling skin, while making the eye-area look more youthful. Leaving your skin plumped and nourished thanks to Elizabeth Grant’s own innovation Torricelumn, vitality is produced in a bottle, and dark shadows are reduced. To apply, pat a small amount around your eye area both morning and at night. Containing CoQ10, this product also promotes collagen renewal, revitalising your under eye area. Now our under eyes are suitably moisturised, it’s time to turn to our eyelashes. We discovered Apraise, a brand providing an exclusive collection of professional eyelash and eyebrow products. They particularly specialise in water resistant and smudge proof tints, but have equally turned their hand to lashcare. This is the area that interested us most, with the use of Optiplex growth technology. We tried their Power Serum, a product promising thicker and stronger eyelashes in just 15 days. We were keen to put this to the test!

This serum contains active ingredients that stimulate hair follicles, leading to fuller and stronger lashes and brows. All too often, similar products do nothing but moisturise your eyelashes, and although this is no bad thing, we were pleased to find that this Power Serum has real (and visible) results. By reducing the loss of eyelashes, your lashes look healthy and full, and as it is packaged like conventional mascara, it is simple to apply. Apply a thin coat over your lashes and brows twice a day (mornings and evenings) and you won’t have to wait long for baffling results! To try this product for yourself, visit the Amazon website here, where you will find the Power Serum available for £9.99.

Last but not least, nothing completes an eye look quite like a good coating of mascara. On our quest to find a new favourite, we discovered the brand Lavera, and were keen to try their Powerful Lashes product. Lavera provide certified natural cosmetics, with the use of high quality ingredients, packaging and production processes, so we were keen to see whether their mascara would live up to the high performance ethos.

The Powerful Lashes mascara is organic and vegan, leaving your lashes looking fuller and longer. Unlike many mascaras, this formula is multi-purpose, giving your eyelashes the benefit of a volumised, defined and lengthened look. Additionally, thanks to the rubber brush, our natural curl is held, catching each lash seperately, giving optimum volume without clumping. Being ophthalmologically tested, this product is also suitable for contact lense wearers, and thanks to the dermatological testing, you can be safe in the knowledge that your eyes will not react to the ingredients. There’s nothing worse than streaming panda eyes! To purchase Powerful Lashes, visit the Lavera website here where you will find it available for £14.90.

There you have it - our newfound products for a New Year eyecare routine. Give them a try, and be sure to let us know how you get on!

PureLash Lash Extender & Conditioner - Jane Iredale

Full and long lashes are our favourite accessory here at The Amazing Blog, whether you're foregoing makeup or glamming up. We especially love when our lashes are lengthened and strengthened and making  our much more mascara long-lasting. That’s why we were delighted when Jane Iredale sent us their Purelash Lash Extender & Conditioner.

This multi-purpose product is the perfect way to achieve thick, long and strong lashes. It can be used as a mascara primer, adding measurable thickness and length to the lashes when used under your favourite mascara and helping the mascara to last-longer. Not only are you left with fluttery and flirty lashes, but it also allows you to use less of your mascara, therefore helping your purchase last longer. The second purpose is perhaps our favourite; apply the product to clean lashes before bed for an overnight lash treatment. The Aloe Extract and Vitamin B Complex Factor moisturises the lashes, helping them to grow stronger and healthier. Hydrolysed Wheat Protein aids in thicker growth and with the added bonus of curlier lashes. You can even use this product to condition your eyebrows if you're coveting some bushier brows.

The majority of mascaras slow the growth of the hair follices along your eyelid. This results in scarce lashes that struggle to grow, and is why the Purelash Lash Extender & Conditioner is such a beneficial product. What's more, the product is cruelty-free so as your lashes grow, your guilt won't!  If you're still somehow not convinced, think about it this way, you wouldn't skip the conditioner in your hair-wash routine, so why skip it on your eyelashes?

Purchase the Pure Lash Extender and Conditioner here for £16.00.

MioLash - 3D Fibre Lash Mascara

Here at The Amazing Office we have found the latest beauty secret and we want to share it with you. We have always watched in envy at the girls who can flutter their long and thick eyelashes and after trying numerous of so called thickening mascaras we were about to give up until we found MioLash. Mio Lash 3D Fibre Lash Mascara provides dramatically longer and thicker lashes in less than a minute.

The Fibre Mascara is designed by applying natural fibres onto your lashes to help thicken and elongate lasting all day long. You can apply Mio lash in just three short steps. Firstly, apply the Volumising Gel to clean and dry eyelashes. Before the Volumising Gel dries, apply the Fibre Lash Extensions from the middle to the end of your eye to create a fuller looking lash. To secure the fibre lash, re-apply the Volumising Gel for a fresh effect and enjoy fluttering your eyelashes all day long.

When we tried the fibre lash mascara we were pleasantly surprised with the quick and mess free application and was amazed by the dramatic difference compared to other products we have tested. As well as being smudge proof, tear proof and sweat proof, the lashes were looking fresh all day long. Even removing them was quick and easy, just rinse off with warm water.

Don’t hesitate to grab yourself a case now here for £25 for one, £45 for two or £65 for three Miolashes.

 Flutter forever after.

Eye of Horus

The Ancient Egyptians were one of the most influential civalisations in the progression of make-up, encouraging people to become creative with their image. The Amazing Blog would like to thank this bright and speculative culture, as we really do love our cosmetics and have plenty of them to talk about on our blog. Our eyes are one of the best places to focus on when we feel like experimenting, so when we discovered Eye of Horus, who successfully combinines Egyptian culture with make-up, we were very intrigued. The Eye of Horus itself is an ancient Egyptian symbol, representing healing, wisdom, and prosperity. Eye of Horus uses a selection of plant based ingredients in their formulas, just as the Egyptians once did. An effective mixture of Carnauba Wax, Beeswax, Rice Bran Wax, Candelilla Wax and Moringa Oil help to structure the Goddess Mascara, Eye Pencils, and Liquid Define. The principles behind the brand add to its appeal as everything is ethical and none of the products are tested on animals.

MASACARA WHITE Eye of Horus's Goddess Mascara is formulated with the intention of nurturing our natural lashes. This mascara has become an essential for the whole team, our Executive Editor, Edwina, confidently says that this is the best mascara she has ever used. The Beauty Shortlist really likes it too, so if you don't believe us take a look at what they thought too. The wand is designed to avoid clumps and keep the lashes looking conditioned, which we absolutely agree it does. You can apply one layer for a natural look with a little depth and extra length. If you want a more dramatic effect, add more coats for a striking exaggeration of your lashes, which we think is the perfect look for upcoming Christmas parties. Also, the mascara removes very easily (flannel and warm water do the job excellently!) although it's water resistant.

The Goddess Smokey Eye Pencils are creamy eye liners which have the benefits of being smudge proof, waterproof and long lasting. They are great for an exotic finish, their smudging tip allows you to blend the liner for a smouldering effect. These pencils are great for both day and evening make-up looks. The ingredients encourage a long lasting effect so you won’t need to worry about smearing your make-up on a night out. If you don’t like wearing primer on your eye lids then these will be perfect for you. So, just as the Ancient Egyptians did, you can experiment with different shades to accentuate your eyes in different ways. The Eye Pencil range offers stunning shades in Black, Bronze Amulet, Teal Malachite, Charcoal Obsidian and Serpentine Sultry. They are all colours to represent a glamorous and seductive look and are great for drawing attention to your eyes.final new liq

If eye pencils aren’t your thing, and you prefer a liquid liner, then Eye of Horus will still be great for you. Their range also includes an easy to use Liquid Define. This product is smudge proof and long lasting, two essential qualities for an eye liner. We hate it when a liquid eye liner takes too long to dry and leaves you with marks in the crease of our eye lids. Luckily, Eye of Horus use ingredients in this liner to prevent that from being an issue. With a reversible tip, there is a guaranteed fine point even after using the product for a while, so the application can create a thin, understated line, or if you prefer, a bolder statement look, depending on how you choose to apply it.

If the Ancient Egyptian values and stunning shades of these Eye of Horus products appeal to you, you can take a look at their range on the Eye of Horus website or Cocktail Cosmetics. The mascara is £17, and all the eye liners are £13.

Get Volcanic Eyes with Rouge Bunny Rouge Megaplumes Mascara

blogimagemascara For most of us beauty loving girls, especially here at The Amazing Blog, mascara isn’t even a second thought. We love it thick and luscious so that our eyes always look perfectly awake and have a touch (or lots) of glamour. When we received the Rouge Bunny Rouge Megaplumes Mascara, I knew I had to be the first try it out.

Rouge Bunny Rouge was created in 2006 in Moscow by Alexandra De Montfort in an effort to create luxurious, unique and feminine cosmetics. Every product in her line has a touch of fantasy; a story behind it, and as the wearer, you bring that story to life. The Dramatic Lash Megaplumes Mascara, which was inspired by underwater hydrothermal volcanoes, is said to ‘achieve the same impressive effect as false lash extensions’. Because of the fantasy behind the products, I imagine my eyes will look incredibly mesmerising and enchanting once I apply the mascara. Even just the packaging is whimsical; white flowers delicately scattered over a sleek black design.

Upon opening I notice the beautiful, rich Oxblood colour. No, not your typical black mascara, but something new and unexpected to try. It is sure to enhance any natural eye colour, especially greens and browns.  The brush is a simple oval, but it is large and thick, perfect for catching even the tiniest corner lashes. Panthenol being included in the formula means that your lashes will be moisturised as well as strengthened. The ‘natural jellifying systemresists breaking, while keeping your lashes supple and flexible.  I found it incredibly easy to apply, non-messy, and looked fabulous. The mascara is also water-proof and transfer-proof, so you so not have to worry about it smudging or running as you go about your day. ‘Megaplumes’ mascara is sure to get you noticed (in a good way of course!), and is such an easy way to spice up your make-up routine.  The mascara retails at £24.96 and can be purchased on the Rouge Bunny Rouge website.
