Les Rêves De Revuelesque: Burlesque Showcase

It is time to treat ourselves to some sizzling entertainment, flashing lights and beautifully manufactured costumes. You heard right; we at The Amazing Blog, are returning to the Clapham Grand this November for the City Academy’s premier burlesque show - RevueLesque.

This show combines cabaret with can-can, with a cast of 23 powerful women performing a range of mind-blowing dances from traditional to modern burlesque. The artists are business professionals during the day that seek to inspire their audiences at night, offering a new perspective on burlesque and female freedom of expression. We have no doubt that your senses will be enlightened. With its 5th show right around the corner, the revival of the burlesque is hard to unsee. The City Academy is known for its adult creative and performing arts courses across London, including two burlesque companies.

Suzy Molnar, founder of RevueLesque and Head of Commercial and World Dance, tells us “We return to Clapham Grand for a second time- with brand new content that we’ve been working hard on all year. I believe this will be our best show yet.”

If this sounds as promising to you as it does to us, you can join the show on Tuesday 13th of November at 19:30 at Clapham Grand, 21-25 St John’s Hill, London SW11 1 TT.

Tickets are available for £19.50, click here to purchase your own from the City Academy website. If you can’t wait to see the girls in action, you can also click here for a little sneak-peak of their latest work.

Güllüoĝlu Turkish Delights

blog As our readers know, we here at The Amazing Blog love sweets. When samples come through the office we never hesitant to jump on them. But believe it or not, sampling the same flavored treats can become repetitive and a bit of a bore.  So when we learned of Güllüoĝlu Turkish Delights and their exquisite range of flavours, we anxiously awaited the arrival of their samples. And within two days of receiving these delights, the box was completely empty.

With over 150 years of experience, Güllüoĝlu is an authentic turkish brand that maintains a tradition of making the 'finest' and most delicious Turkish Delights possible. Their speciality lies in the unique and untraditional flavours they design. We received some of their most highly rated including Orange Rolled Sultan Delight, Pistachio Rolled Sultan Delight, Walnut Milky Sultan Delight, Cocoa Sultan Delight, and Coconut Pistachio Sultan Delight. At first these combinations may seem a bit strange but don't judge this book by its cover - Güllüoĝlu knows what they are doing. Each blend is perfectly matched to be sweet but not over baring.  The Walnut Milky Sultan Delight (my personal favourite) was unlike any turkish delight that anyone of us in the office had ever seen. Topped with a whole walnut this gorgeous treat was irresistible from the first bite. And the texture reminded me of a gourmet marshmallow. Nibbling on any of these uncommon flavours is sure to be delightful but for those of you that fancy the more traditional route there are classics as well including Rose, Orange and Cherry that are equally delicious.

Güllüoĝlu understands that choosing a single flavour can be quite difficult so they offer a 'Pick n Mix' service on their website that allows you to customized a 1kg box with whichever delights you desire. Starting at £0.24 per sweet, we really recommend this service. It is the perfect option to bring to your next dinner party. And once you find your favourite flavours, there are also pre-packed boxes available, starting at £9.98 each.

Everyday Lebanese Cooking By: Mona Hamadeh

  Lebanese Cookbook

Are you tired of making the same old thing for dinner every night? I know we here at The Amazing Blog are always trying to find something new and different to excite our taste buds. That’s why we are thrilled to share the Everyday Lebanese Cooking cookbook by Mona Hamadeh with you. This book contains a very large variety of incredible Lebanese recipes, breathing life to your regualr and tired looking ingredients.  So you can now have no excuses and can wave goodbye to your usual burnt meat and overcooked veg.

The author, Mona Hamadeh, grew up in the Shouf Mountains in Lebanon and was taught by her grandmother and her mother how to create delicious and traditional Lebanese dishes that are full of history. These recipes have been passed on from generation to generation and now, with he help of Mona, they have been passed down to us.  These recipes are full of love and infused with history.  With the help of this cookbook I was able to create an incredible Hummous and Baba Ghanouj as appetisers for a friend’s dinner party. The recipes were easy to follow and turned out unbelieveably well (much to my surprise) and easily stood out 'head and shoulders' above the rest of the dishes at the party (I was very chuffed!) So, if you're looking to be the talk of your next dinner party or simply just create a meal that won't have your family groaning ; I would recommend this book for anyone is tired of 'the same old, same old...'  and  who are looking for something a little different to spice up their meals a bit more.

You can purchase this essential guide to traditional Lebanese cooking at Amazon for £8.84 a copy. Get ready to impress your family and friends with some great food and gain some new favourite recipes that you can help pass down as well.

A Body Oil That’s Good Enough to Eat

It's so refreshing to review a beauty product that has just one ingredient – yes, just one: Organic Golden Camellia oil. And let me tell you that this one ingredient has a myriad of uses - in my view it’s truly a wonder oil! Seven years ago whilst travelling in Japan, I was wowed by their home grown camellia oil. For the uninitiated, camellia oil (also commonly known as tsubaki or tea seed oil) is a non-toxic and non-allergenic oil that is also edible. Manufactured by hand using a traditional cold press technique, it is a pure unscented oil that has been used to protect, nourish and moisturise skin and hair for as long as the oil has existed. Think  Sumo wrestlers with their glossy black manes pulled tightly into a topknot (set with Camellia oil); or the Samurai warriors wielding their elegant shiny swords who used this oil to protect their blades without damaging the wooden scabbards.

However, back to the present, when Organic Golden Camellia arrived at The Amazing Blog I was excited to introduce it to my fellow work mates.  They loved it. It has little to no fragrance; it applies with ease onto the skin and is instantly absorbed - like butter melting into a crumpet! It feels light and moisturising leaving only the slightest shimmery residue and a little goes a long way – so perfect for enhancing that hard earned British suntan.  What I must add about this particular Organic Golden Camellia oil is that it's so pure – you can actually eat it! It is recommended for both mother and baby as along with its high nutrient and non-pore blocking composition it makes it ideal for use as a baby massage oil. Also not forgetting to mention that it has no added Vitamin E (be warned others do…!)

This oil is made exclusively from the Camellia Oleifera (the highest grade camellia seed) which is reflected in its price point of £24.99 We are obviously in good company thinking that this Organic Golden Camellia oil is very special as Natural Health Magazine recently quoted it as their ‘Must Buy’. So what are you waiting for, pick up some Organic Golden Camellia!
