Charlie Miller - Haircare

There’s no disputing the fact that going into a salon, will always give us our best hair days at The Amazing Blog, however, we don’t always have the time to sit in the chair and get pampered. So, finding a renowned salon brand of haircare that allowed us to ‘good hair days’ at home has to the answer. We were highly recommended (by those in the know) to try the new Charlie Miller Shampoo and Conditioner and we couldn’t wait!

After working in the hair industry for many decades, the Millers knew exactly what they wanted to achieve with their luxury haircare line. Charlie Miller, the founder of Charlie Miller Hairdressers, started his career over 50 years ago as a hairdresser and followed on by opening a chain of salons. Now, his sons Jason and Joshua Miller have sparked a second-generation evolution to the family haircare business by launching a brand of take-home hair products.

Charlie Miller Haircare was launched at the end of 2018 with hopes of providing the luxury Charlie Miller experience without having to travel into the salon. With 3 shampoos and 2 conditioners, the haircare line has something for every hair type. All of the products are formulated with jasmine extract, organic calendula flower extract and organic sage oil to help lock in moisture, soothe dry scalps and encourage new hair growth. The Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner work best when used in tandem to help hydrate, moisturise and comfort the scalp. The Hydrate Shampoo and conditioner left our hair feeling so healthy and smooth with great texture and shine! This was our favourite in the range.

The Volume Shampoo and Conditioner work together to provide extra body to limp and flat locks. Just massage into scalp, rinse out and blow-dry and style to reveal fullness from root to tip. We loved how much bounce (and no frizz!) we had after testing out the Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. Charlie Miller even has a Silver Shampoo that has hues of blue to help neutralise and remove yellow tones in highlighted or platinum hair.

Did we mention their fragrances? We loved the subtle floral fragrance with hints of lemon, green tea, and jasmine. It’s a light and uplifting scent, perfect for keeping hair fresh all day long. Each of the shampoos and conditioners are sulphate and paraben-free, so you don’t have to worry about harming your precious tresses.

Want to have the Charlie Miller’s hair experience at home? Then see the whole line of Shampoos and Conditioners which can be purchased here. The Shampoos retail for £17.95 per 250 ml and the Conditioners retail for £18.95 per 250ml.

Mill Creek Botanicals – Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner

Haircare can be a drama; the pollution, the humidity, the dryness, the curls, the frizziness, the split ends… you know the story! At The Amazing Blog we’ve been testing out a few and we interested to hear about the US brand Mill Creek Botanicals who have just launched here in the UK.

Panch Prasad, CEO of Mill Creek Botanicals, is a trained chemist and natural products advocate. When he purchased the brand in 2001, he wanted to give it a fresh new look with a commitment to being beneficial for the planet. All Mill Creek products are sulphate, paraben, gluten free and vegan; they are certified organic by USDA or QAI following the guidelines of PETA and GMP, and all created in a carbon-neutral environment. All of this has made the brand a multiple winner of awards such as Natural Beauty 2019. With nature and people at the core of their values, Mill Creek has been committed to delivering quality products at an affordable price since 1975.

Although Mill Creek Botanicals’ natural product range is very extensive, we wanted to try the Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner as together they repair and renew the hair with their natural and organic ingredients and high concentration of plant-based keratin. The Keratin Shampoo This shampoo boosts the effects of keratin by combining it with panthenol, argan oil and herbs, all of which repair the hair strands, giving it strength and elasticity. You can now say goodbye to your split ends! The fragrance is slightly fruity and fresh, all from the combination of aloe vera, coconut oil, organic wild cherry, chamomile, hops and field horsetail. To use these, simply wet your hair, pump a little bit of shampoo into the palm of your hand and with its light consistency, massage your scalp and rinse. To achieve even better results, follow it with the Keratin Conditioner.

The Conditioner acts like ‘belt and braces’ to the Shampoo and it made even our tangly hair sleek and manageable. Also composed of the same core ingredients as the Shampoo, the hydrolysed keratin (plant-based), panthenol, argan oil in this Conditioner added to the reduction of hair breakage, also adding a natural bounce and shine. We applied it after the Shampoo, focusing on our ends and left it for a couple of minutes. However, you can leave it on your hair for up to 10 minutes if your hair is dry or has sustained damage; it then acts more like a hair mask. We just rinsed and kept going with our regular haircare routine.

Both the Keratin Shampoo and the Conditioner work beautifully in tandem. If you’re looking for an affordable natural shampoo (with organic ingredients) to improve the quality of your hair, then look no further. It’s another one of our #amazingfinds! Get your Mill Creek Botanicals Keratin 414ml Shampoo for £6.99 here and the Mill Creek Botanicals Keratin 414ml Conditioner for £6.99 here and put an end to bad hair days.

Rosehip Oil, Rosehip Oil with Vitamin C and cellular radiance serum - [A'kin]

The idea of 'pure' ingredients may not seem like something you’ve thought about, or if you have, it might sound like a fanciful dream, but we here at The Amazing Blog have found the reality. [A’kin] is a brand which defines itself by its dedication to “the power of purity.” Their products undertake a unique process to ensure that their ingredients are: properly researched for their health and beauty benefits, extracted in their purest and most beneficial form, and selected and tested for synergy and skin compatibility. As such we had high hopes and expectations for the two oils and one serum we tried.

Both of the [A’kin] Oils we tried used Rosehip as the basis of the products, but both achieved different results. Rosehip is rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids which help to give skin a youthful and healthy glow. Rosehip is also full of Omega 3, 6, and 9 which help to restore moisture as well as nurturing and rejuvenating the appearance of skin. The first Rosehip based oil we tried was the Brightening Rosehip Oil with Vitamin C, and we can honestly say it did everything it said and more! Our skin felt brighter and clearer, as the Vitamin C in the oil acts as a powerful reviving antioxidant helping to neutralise free radicals, clear up the skin, all the while keeping it hydrated and fed! While the Brightening Rosehip Oil with vitamin C is suitable for all skin, the Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil is better suited for dry and or sensitive skin types. This oil left our skin feeling smooth and deeply hydrated. The oil is enriched with pure active botanicals and contains only two ingredients: rosa canina seed (rosehip) extract and rosemary leaf extract. [A'kin] Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil has a concentration of Omega essential fatty acids that is no less than 80%!! This award winning Rosehip oil helps to restore moisture and helps reduce the visible signs of aging. The result is vibrant, glowing and healthy radiant looking skin.

The [A’kin] Revitalising Cellular Radiance Serum was a fantastic anti-aging serum that completely rejuvenated our skin, restoring youthfulness. The powerful serum combines 6 organic and certified extracts: pomegranate amaranth, seabuckthorn, rosehip, calendula, and chamomile. All of which help to moisturise skin, while firming it up. It’s no wonder, therefore, that in a recent study on 32 women aged 50 and over, the serum was shown to improve skin texture by 84%, skin radiance by 69% and reduce wrinkles by 22% over a three month period. What more could you want from an all natural anti-aging serum!

You can purchase [A'kin]'s revitalising cellular radiance serum here for £26.00 their brightening rosehip oil with vitamin C here for £24.00 and their pure radiance rosehip oil here for £18.00
