Friday Favourites: Jewellery

With the New Year quickly approaching, you’ve probably begun thinking about what your New Year’s goals and resolutions will be. The Amazing Blog staff has decided that we want to take a new approach to our accessorising. So, we have compiled a list of 5 accessories that will inspire us in different ways every time we put them on.

S/S15 “IN THE CITY” by Maria Francesca Pepe

Want to wear what the celebrities wear? MFP Jewellery’s new line S/S15 “IN THE CITY” is inspired by city skylines, graphic city maps, neon city lights, combining sharp, sleek and geometric designs with symbolism and sub-culture references. Celebrities like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Rita Ora and Beyonce are huge fans of MFP, and let's be honest, we all want to wear what Queen B wears.

We absolutely love the 'DREAM' cuff. Handmade in Italy, this gold statement cuff, embellished with graffiti style font and coloured Swarovski crystals, will be a constant reminder next year to dream big and make sure you chase after what you want. Head on over to the website and get yourself this gorgeous bracelet for £289.00.

Unity by Julia Cook

If you’re looking to accessorise for a cause, check out Julia Cook’s new jewellery collection, Unity. She specifically designed the collection to raise money for St Mungo’s Broadway. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds raised will be donated to Rebuilding Shattered Lives, a charity that provides vital services to homeless women through safe housing, education, counselling, self-defence classes and training programmes.

St Mungo’s Broadway Unity Cuddles Bracelet embraces Cook’s idea that people need to support others, especially those in need. Walk into the New Year with good karma and keep it going by purchasing this beautiful bracelet for £175.00 here

True Rocks by Emily Bradbury and Dawn Hindle

The collaboration between Emily Bradbury of vintage Victorian punk label “Constant and True" and Dawn Hindle, founder and creative director of the globally renowned music and lifestyle brand “Ibiza Rocks,” have created a unique jewellery brand that reflects their lifestyle and influences from music, fashion and art. True Rocks is 'jewellery with attitude' that has set a trend amongst the music and fashion industry.

We absolutely adore this deep purple enamel and rose gold revolving globe pendant with the words "The whole world revolves around love" around it. Plan some fun vacations next year and let this necklace be a reminder that you need to greet every new opportunity with love because that's what makes the world go round. Spread the love and purchase the necklace for £485.00 here.

Naked Square by Myriam Soseilos

Myriam Soseilos, the award-winning Cypriot jewellery designer and founder of the luxury jewellery brand, MyriamSOS, recently presented her new Naked Square collection, which draws its inspiration from the nuances of modern architecture coupled with the use of high-quality materials and gemstones. The vision for the range is to re-think the way that classic jewellery is viewed and presented.

Detouring from the usual circle, the L Ring provides a new perspective on the design of a ring. Purchase this ring here for £160.00 as a reminder that you need to look outside of the box (or circle in this case) and maybe you'll discover something new. Sometimes all we need is a New Year for a little change in perspective.

Hope by Faye Marie

Have you been let down by this year's expectations? It's about time you were introduced to the new Hope collection by Faye Marie. Faye Marie's unique jewellery tells wonderful stories of the synergy between human emotions and animals. This newest collection is based upon pterippus, the flying horse. In mythology, Pegasus represents the hope of aspiring to improve all aspects of life and love, which exactly what this collection embodies. This cutting edge jewellery is an expression of what is to come rather than what has been.

Purchase these Hope Square Studs here for £225.00 and put all of your past disappointments behind you. The New Year gives you the opportunity to start fresh, so expect more for yourself this upcoming year and do what you need to do to improve your situation. There's nothing wrong with having a little hope.

Feeling inspired? Perfect! Let your jewellery be a statement that you are diving head first into the New Year with a new outlook on life.

Popbands

We can all relate to the moment where you become so tired of your hair falling in front of your face, you finally decide to just throw it up into a ponytail. Depending on your hair type, some bands unfortunately do not get the job done right. We at The Amazing Blog have had this happen plenty of times, but thanks to Popbands, all of our pony problems are over.

Popbands are soft, stretchy and they don’t leave dent marks in your hair. Now you don’t have to be embarrassed about letting your hair down after a couple of hours in a ponytail.

Popbands do what they are supposed to do. As someone with long, thick hair, I have a hard time finding a band that can keep my hair tight in a ponytail for an entire day. I hate having to fix my hair every couple of hours. With Popbands, I never have that issue. They hold my hair perfectly in place for the entire day. Another benefit? I never have to deal with those thin black hair bands that always rip my hair out when I let it down. My hair never gets caught in my Popband.

They also come in bright, fun colours and are cute enough to wear on your wrist as an extra bracelet. The more uses you can get out of a simple product, the better!

You can purchase individual hair bands here, or if one band isn't enough, you can buy multi packs here. It’s time to smarten up your locks.

Carnaby Street - Men's Style Night

Here at The Amazing Blog, we know that shopping is an experience that men could happily live without. All of this is about to change, however, because on 11th September, Men’s Style Night will be gracing the pavements of Carnaby Street. Much like a fine suit, men will be able to enjoy a shopping experience tailored to their every wish. And as the event is held in association with GQ, we can expect nothing but the best in style.

Between 5-9pm, over 100 fashion brands, including Paul Smith, Vans and Fred Perry, are uniting to create the ultimate shopping experience. Registration for the event is completely free, and entitles you to a 20% discount in participating shops, as well as access to over 50 free experiences. Whisky tasting, shoe shining and an F1 simulator are just a few of the fantastic experiences on the agenda, as well as the plethora of trend talks, tips and masterclasses available over at the GQ pop up shop.

If you still aren’t all that interested in a shopping spree, fear not, as Carnaby’s delicious collection of restaurants will also be participating. Stax, The Rum Kitchen and Pizza Pilgrims will all be flogging their tasty wares as part of the event. Once you’re fed, head on over to fashionable watering hole, Cirque Le Soir, who will be running a ‘Vintage Circus’ pop up bar. Complimentary Ringmaster cocktails will be up for grabs, along with a selection of other intoxicating treats.

If that wasn’t enough for you, there are plenty of other exciting experiences on offer. From live music to camera workshops, if there isn’t something on offer that doesn’t entice you to dust off your credit card, then we’re not sure what will. Register for the free event here, and find more information here.

Simon Copeland - Wardrobe Detox

simon copeland 9

Made an expensive mistake in Summer sales? Or perhaps you need help culling your exploding wardrobe? Well then look no further because we at The Amazing Blog have the answer to your prayers. Fashion Designer, Simon Copeland, with expert tailoring skill, will advise you on colour, style and fit, and you won't have to move from the comfort of your home. And if you need a little addition to make that jacket or dress really work, he can sort that too, with a wide range of outfits and separates designed exclusively for you.

A Wardrobe Detox Consultation lasts for two hours, with Simon coming to your home or office and going through your wardrobe, or indeed simply the pieces you wish to pull out for attention. There are three categories:

Current Season - the pieces you are wearing to their full potential, and therefore earning their place in your wardrobe.

Potential Tweaking - the pieces which may appear dated or even unwearable, but with a little adjustment, can be altered to become part of your Current Season Wardrobe.

Redundant Pieces - the outfits which have served their purpose, and which need to be sent to the recycling bin, and thus creating space in your wardrobe. He calls it CPR for your clothes!

The cost of the detox is £250, which covers the initial two hour consultation, and the alteration of one outfit which is undertaken by Simon's team, at his studio, and then returned to you. Further alterations can be arranged, and quoted for accordingly. For every friend you introduce to The Wardrobe Detox, and who books a consultation, you can claim a further free alteration. Further information, testimonials and details can be found at www.simoncopeland.com/detox. Simon can be contacted on 020 7924 1985 or the mobile 07768 760315. The mobile is better as Simon is always out and about dealing with troublesome wardrobes! Alternatively, you can email detox@simoncopeland.com or Simon directly on simon@simoncopeland.com. Our Executive Ed at TheAmazingBlog was very ebullient about her experience; she felt ‘totally cleansed’ and we’ve certainly seen her sporting some rocking remakes…

Laguna Star - Swim Shorts

Summer time is here, and we at the Amazing Blog are always keeping an eye out for swimwear. Laguna Star has great looking pairs of swim shorts for yourself or a man in your life, and we think every guy should have one! They are extremely light weight and have a classic look, reassuring that you’re always ‘in style’. Aside from the timeless look of the shorts, this quick-dry material is perfect for warm weather adventures. Each pair of shorts is one of a kind and hand embroidered, using only the finest materials and threads. There are also a variety of design elements, including 4 colours and 4 embroidery options, totalling 16 combinations of shorts. We love traditional items here at the Amazing Blog because there’s no need to buy the ‘new style’ each season, and the item ends up paying for itself.

Laguna Star also supports Project Seahorse, which is a Marine Life Conservation project. £3 of each purchase goes to this cause in order to make a difference in our oceans. Get your own pair of Laguna Star Swim Shorts here for £90.00.
