Gourmet Spirulina

Here at The Amazing Blog we love discovering a product that is the first of its kind, which is why we asked to receive Gourmet Spirulina, the first and only raw spirulina in the UK.

Spirulina was a traditional food of the Aztecs and the Kanem. The microscopic equatorial algae, grown in small-scale hydroponic farms, are now mostly used as a dietary supplement. However, Gourmet Spirulina offers you the opportunity to (re)discover this superfood in convenient food formats with great taste.

You can choose between the company’s nutty-tasting nibs, delicate petals or crisp crunches. Each of these contains a significant amount of iron, antioxidants and vitamins. Using raw Spirulina within a varied and balanced diet will improve your vigour and your health.

Just sprinkle the food on your dish or drink in a smoothie to reap the amazing, healthy benefits enjoyed for centuries. If you’re looking for more energy, these products will give you the boost you need to shine. You can purchase the products here for £12.95 each.

Mr Filbert's Mixed Nuts and Seeds

Recently, we at The Amazing Blog have been struggling to find a snack that will please our tummies and our taste buds. Unfortunately, we often give in to temptation and reach for sweets. However, once Mr. Filbert’s sent us samples of their mixed nuts and tasty seeds, our snack time stress was resolved.

Mr. Filbert’s brand values healthy choices and tasty alternatives to the stereotypical sweet snack. The brand is very excited to announce their new range of Pocket Roasted Mixed Nuts and seeds. The nut mixtures offered are Honey & Peppercorn, Chilli & Fennel and Sea Salt & Herb. If you prefer seeds over nuts, the company also has Chilli, Herb, and Honey Roasted seed selections.

Mr. Filbert’s generously sent us their Honey & Peppercorn and Sea Salt & Herb mixed nuts, along with their Chilli & Fennel seeds. Due to the size of these tiny packages, we were initially skeptical that the snacks would keep us full until the end of the day. After trying the nuts and seeds, we were pleasantly surprised that the amount was the perfect little snack after we had enjoyed our lunches, and the snacks kept each of us full until dinner time. Whether you want your own or choose to share, these products are healthy, filling, and pleasantly delicious!

Mr Filbert's new nut and seed selection is available from Waitrose and independent delis and farm shops across the country for £1.50. For more information  about this tasty snack, visit their website.

Friday Favourites - Nut Butters Feature

We here at The Amazing Blog love when we come across a healthy snack we don’t feel guilty indulging in. This is why we decided to look for some delicious and health nut butters to make your meals and snacks fabulous and guilt free.

Soil Association approved, the Primrose's Kitchen Almond and Chia Spread is a delicious butter alternative to the tasty peanut butter we all know and love. It’s still just as nutty but it’s actually better for you! You can spread it on bread, add it to dress or use it in baking. The key ingredient, almonds, is our nut of choice because they alkalise the body and make the perfect high protein snack when combined with Chia Seeds. Not only is this spread organic, but it is also gluten, wheat and sugar free.

Mix it up a little bit and purchase Primrose's Kitchen Almond and Chia Spread here.

Instead of a spread, we decided to try Meridian nut butter bars. They come in two flavours, Almond and Peanut, and let me tell you, they are literally crammed full of nuts.
Each delicious nut bar is 55% nuts, providing an excellent source of nutrients and energy.
These bars prove to be a satisfyingly tasty choice for people on-the-go because they are high energy snacks and super healthy. Each bar contains 8 and 7f of protein respectively – significantly more than mainstream cereal and nut bars. All Meridian nut butter bars are suitable for vegans and are gluten, dairy, soy and wheat free. They would make a healthy addition to any lunchbox so purchase these Meridian bars and other butters here.

Dappa - Grape Marc Spirit

Does your coffee need a little kick? Here at The Amazing Blog we agree that a little digestif never hurt anyone. DAPPA, a new luxury grape-marc-spirit made in the UK’s only micro-distillery of its kind, is the perfect addition to your designer kitchen and delicious drinks.

Distilled by hand in Devon Distellery, using an authentic Italian copper still, DAPPA contains selected Rondo grape skins from English vineyards, Pinot Noir and is complimented with small quantities of Dornfielder and Regent.

DAPPA is ideally drunk as a digestif, often with espresso coffee, but it can be used in cocktail recipes. It has clean, crisp and grassy flavours, with hints of berries and earthy tones.

Produced by DevonDistillery, it is not for the faint hearted. The sleek bottle contains 43% abv, which means a shot of DAPPA will have you buzzing from the experience.

Aduna - Moringa Green Superleaf Powder

We at The Amazing Blog are no strangers to our power foods and powders. At this point, we believe that we’ve tried almost every kind of power supplement there is. But when we received samples of Aduna’s Moringa Miracle Tree Green Superleaf Powder, we were pleasantly proven wrong.

This powder is unique for a number of reasons. First things first, the Moringa in the product promotes healthy skin, nails, and hair. It also is loaded with essential vitamins, antioxidants and protein. Basically, enjoying this product includes almost every kind of benefit that there is for your body. What more could we ask for?

Taste-wise, the flavour was unlike any other super food we have tried as well. Most superfoods we have tried in the past are either fruit flavoured or taste like oats of some sort. This brand had a taste that reminded us of vegetables, particularly spinach and other greens. The smell of the product gave off an earthy aroma, which made indulging in the product relaxing and enjoyable. Overall, it is 100% organic and is one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. We believe that simple fact makes giving this product a try an absolute no-brainer.

Aduna Moringa Green Superleaf Powder is available from Holland & Barrett, Liberty, Wholefoods Market, Planet Organic, Selfridges, As Nature Intended, Revital and other leading independent retailers nationwide and online via Aduna's website. It is available in various amounts and price points.
