Ayo - Body Crème

blog imageIn anticipation of more sunshine in London, we here at The Amazing Blog are getting excited at the very mention of the ‘s’ word. So, of course, we were overjoyed to receive a Body Crème from Ayo, aptly named Salute The Sun. A thoroughly British brand, with everything from manufacturing to formulating taking place in the UK, the botanical brand hosts a luxurious range of vitamin enriched products. We were keen to see whether their creatively named cream really did feel like sunshine in a jar.

Her first venture into the world of beauty, founder Susan Benjamin, centred the brand on an ethos of joy and happiness, capturing the essence of her sister's enchanting spirit. Pronounced 'eye-oh', the brand's premium products are the ultimate natural indulgence. Formulated with ethically sourced, organically certified ingredients, the range is designed to feel euphoric on the skin, and the Body Creme certainly succeeds in this respect. Scented with Indian sandalwood, patchouli, jasmine sambac, and rose & vanilla absolute, the Salute The Sun fragrance has a certain opulence to it, and reminded us of a hot summer day. The paraben free crème feels so decadent on the body, gliding on to create baby soft skin in an instant. Nilotica shea butter is an intensely nourishing treat, packed with enriching Vitamins A and E, whilst antioxidant chia oil acts to revitalise our parched skin. We love how quickly the silky crème sinks into the skin, leaving a beautiful, velvety finish. Not only this, the summer fragrance lingered all day, so that I could still smell the sunshine well into the evening. Its sunny scent will be enough to lift my mood on the rainiest of days. The Ayo Body Crème is available to buy here for £48.

Crabtree & Evelyn - Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy

blog imageWorking in an office environment often has a very drying effect on the skin. As a result, we here at The Amazing Blog always have a huge array of hand creams on the go. So many, in fact, that we consider ourselves experts on the subject. So when the lovely people at Crabtree & Evelyn sent us a tube of their Lavender Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy, we knew what a great product we had on our hands! An intensely nourishing and rich treatment scented with soothing lavender oil, we’re really coveting this conditioning cream.

Containing ingredients such as shea butter and macadamia nut oil, the hand therapy feels really calming on the skin, and sinks in really quickly, leaving no trace of a sticky residue, despite its rich consistency. The addition of myrrh helps to condition nails and cuticles, which is essential for nail polish addicts like us. It's the perfect precursor to any manicure, and makes a great pairing with the Crabtree & Evelyn Nail Lacquers, which you can read about here. A little goes a long way with this product; only a small amount massaged into my slightly chapped hands left them feeling blissfully soothed, soft and moisturised. Fragranced with English Lavender, the cream offers a subtle, soothing aroma at the perfect potency, helping to calm both our skin and our senses. The intensely nourishing product keeps our hands happy and hydrated all day long, and has made itself a staple on our cream laden desks.

A 100ml tube of the Lavender Hand Therapy is available to buy here for £15, along with the whole beautiful Crabtree & Evelyn range. They have a great variety of fragrances to choose from, but we have to say, we’re in love with lavender.

Lavera - Organic Self-Tanning Face Cream

blog imageWith such unpredictable weather at the moment, the girls here at The Amazing Blog have been relying on self tanning products, to get that sun-kissed healthy glow. We all have our favourite self-tanning body mousses or lotions, which we have been applying religiously, but searching for a great self-tanning product for the face can be a little trickier. You can't cover up a streaky face with a kaftan after all. Luckily we have discovered Lavera’s Organic Self -Tanning Face Cream to give our faces an even, bronzed glow.

This vegan friendly lotion is long lasting and moisturises the skin while providing a natural, light tan. With organic ingredients, like high quality macadamia oil and sunflower oil, Lavera is the ideal self-tanning facial cream. Like most self-tanning lotions, when applying it, keep it away from the hair line as well as the eyebrows to prevent colour build up. Also, washing hands immediately after application is a must to avoid staining. Though the tint takes about five hours to develop, the colour lasts for about two weeks. I have found applying Lavera two times a week yields for the most natural and even shade of colour.

Lavera is the ideal product to complete your self-tanning regime, with easy application, getting a naturally golden colour has never been easier.  Purchase Lavera's Organic Self-Tanning Face Cream for £10.90 here to achieve that sun-kissed summer glow we all long for.

Bistrotea - TeaPods

blog imageAs with most offices, all of us here at The Amazing Blog can usually be found at our desks with a cup of tea in hand. Though we love drinking tea, its preparation can often be a little messy. Disposing of soggy teabags and washing up tea stained spoons is not our idea of time well spent. Thankfully, Bistrotea has solved our problem with their innovative TeaPods. Using only organic, premium grade tea leaves in their recyclable tubes, Bistrotea offer TeaPods in a variety of flavours, and they were generous enough to send us the whole collection to sip on.

The straw shaped TeaPods are single-use tea diffusers which act as both filter and stirrer. Negating the need for spoon and messy teabag, the pod can go straight back into its tear-proof packaging after use, leaving you to enjoy your hot cup of deliciousness without the looming dread of washing up. The collection consists of eleven different blends, including traditional flavours like English Breakfast and Earl Grey, as well as more adventurous tastes like Apple Cinnamon, Lemon Grass and an Energy Tea. Bistrotea recommend brewing for 3-5 minutes, with the strength of flavour increasing the longer you leave it to infuse. With so many options, there's definitely a pod for everyone. The blend of Vanilla Peach was the most coveted flavour in the office. Combining the sharpness of peach with the sweet softness of vanilla, the TeaPod makes for the perfect pick-me-up during the work day.

The TeaPods are available in a  32 pieces carton, but if you aren't sure which flavour to try, you can go for 'the favourites', in which you can mix and match 8 different blends. Find your perfect combination here and ‘Infuse Your Passion’ for £14.80. Bistrotea have also been kind enough to offer a 15% discount to our readers, here.

Friday Favourites - Candles

After a busy working week, we're definitely not the only ones who look forward to a relaxing weekend. With the sun setting later in the day, and summer quickly approaching, we here at The Amazing Blog have been making more use of our gardens. Lately, we've been enjoying the warmer, lighter evenings with a glass of wine in hand, burning a scented candle or two in our new tranquil garden space. This pastime has encouraged us to try some wonderfully natural, handmade and unique candles that we're excited to share with you.juliette at homeThe perfect accessory to a sophisticated garden tea party are these adorable teacup candles from Juliette at Home. The  decorative meissen-style cups remind us of Alice in Wonderland, with each of the dainty candles intricately painted in a fashion fit for the highest of high teas. The delicate fragrance of Earl Grey tea, combined with notes of bergamot and green tea, make these hand filled, natural wax candles feel quintessentially British. Any tea lover would be as mad as a hatter not to add one or two to their collection. The teacup candles are available in a variety of beautiful designs, here, for £27 each.Secret Garden & BoxAs much as we love a serene garden atmosphere, nothing provides home comfort like great interior design. So it's no surprise that we covet Birch & Brook as much as we do. The luxurious London based brand is designed by Jessica Jones, who has a background in interior design, and knows how to engineer a room to make you feel right at home.  Birch & Brook believe in the story telling power of scent, and their candles are designed to evoke certain memories. With aromas like Library and Fireside to choose from, there’s bound to be a fragrance that takes you back to good days gone by. We were enamoured by the aroma of Secret Garden. A sensual summer scent, it combines notes of lily of the valley, hyacinth, and mandarin flower, transporting us to a thriving garden utopia, complete with fruit laden trees and sweetly scented flowers. The candles are also beautifully packaged and made, with the company sourcing from sustainable crops, as well as using vegan ingredients, free from petroleum, paraffin and palm wax. Secret Garden is available here for £36, as well as the rest of the nostalgic candles from the Birch & Brook range.MilanaOur next choice of candle comes courtesy of Milana, a soy based candle company, who hand pour their music inspired candles in the UK. Milana consider candles and music to be fundamentally connected; not only are they relaxing, but they both combine different ‘notes’ to create a perfect symphony. As music has played such an instrumental part in the Milana journey, all of their candles are named after songs, with their fragrances mirroring the moods of certain melodies. We were pleased to try the Drive in Romance candle, in which scents of Bergamot, Cassis, Apricot and Rose work in harmony to provide a beautiful romantic fragrance. Packaged in a sleek, recyclable gift box, the 100% natural soybean, oil-based candles are biodegradable and petroleum free. The Drive in Romance candle can be found here for £25.00, with additional candles sold here.Bergamot&Basil_Luxury_Scented_Candle_Half_BoxedLuxury candle creators, Wick & Tallow are a favourite of ours here at The Amazing Blog. Their colourful spring candles, Bergamot & Basil and Lemongrass & Neroli have a fresh and unique scent that we adore. Much like Milana and their music, Wick & Tallow combine scent with hue, creating fragrances that reflect the colour of the candle.  Our favourite, Bergamot & Basil, has a wonderful fresh, green scent, and makes the perfect alternative for those who prefer something a little less sweet. Encased in classy black packaging, the vivid wax offers a great contrast against the darkness, creating a sultry feel. The most wonderful thing about Wick & Tallow candles is the intoxicating atmosphere they create when they are burned together. Designed to complement each other, the range is one of our top choices for a perfect range of  refreshing, striking aromas. The candles are available to purchase here for £35 each.

CandlewithBoxStraighOnLowResBritish brand, Mitchell and Peach offer a beautifully scented, hand poured candle. Cultivated at the Mitchell family farm in Kent, they ensure that only the finest blend of British ingredients go into all of their products. As opposed to having a selection of the same type of product in an array of fragrances, the Mitchell and Peach range focuses on selling a variety of skincare and beauty products which centre on the signature Flora No.1 scent. The gentle floral aroma combines rose, sweet violet and English lavender, and smells just as divine in candle form as it does in their signature Hand Lotion. With a burn time of 40 hours, we really enjoyed using this elegant, British candle, which is available to purchase here for £29. Though we like the pretty, pearlescent packaging, from the 30th June, the candle will be available in a beautiful, limited edition, bone-china casing, adorned with butterflies. Following a collaboration with ceramicist, Polly George, we think that the Butterfly Candle is the perfect design to burn in the garden. It is available to pre-order here for £38.50.
