Sana Jardin - No. 5 Celestial Patchouli Perfume

A specific scent can immediately change your whole mood, bringing good memories back or creating new and exciting ones. This is why we at The Amazing Blog love exploring new fragrances. It’s so interesting to see how each person’s skin interacts, and the different perceptions of the very same fragrance. For that reason, we were thrilled when Sana Jardin, the world’s first socially conscious luxury fragrance house. What we love about Sana Jardin is that their mission is not only to provide a long-lasting scent, but also to help empower women all across the globe.

We first fell in love with this natural perfume brand Sana Jardin when recently reviewing their Discovery Set (see our blog post here). This is their range of 7 Eau de Parfums, presented in discreet and elegant bottles which were launched in Harrods in 2017. In collaboration with IFF Master Perfumer Carlos Benaim, these Sana Jardin perfumes were created, unfolding the healing power of natural oils while primarily using some of nature’s most exotic scents, without the use of artificial colourants, parabens, phthalates or formaldehydes.

To keep this never-ending love story going, we asked to try No.5 Celestial Patchouli. Its rich intense smell creates a notion of soft cinnamon bark and leather, with a bit of Australian sandalwood and of course, the slightly sweet but dominant smell of patchouli. It then unfolds to reveal rose and jasmine, as well as Moroccan orris root and the fruity aroma of osmanthus. As these full notes mingle, a deliciousness is revealed, we would go as far as to say making you feel more balanced, relaxed, empowered and harmonised. The packaging is exquisitely designed and we love the magnetic top on the bottle, all of which adds to the luxurious feel. All in all, we think that this fragrance creates an all-round feel good factor. No.5 Celestial Patchouli can be purchased at Harrods, or here at £95 for a 50ml bottle or £180 for an 100 ml bottle.

We must also mention the brand’s founder, Amy Christiansen Si-Ahmed, who created this luxury brand as a vehicle for social change, empowering low-income women. Her brand is the force behind The Beyond Sustainability™ Movement, a movement to impact lower-income women, not with the use of charity, but rather through commerce. The opportunity comes from recycling floral waste into products which end up being sold locally and nationally. Amy Christiansen Si-Ahmed is proud to call this process a true flower revolution. So why not join the change, and empower women to ‘flower to power’? This movement already supports 3 of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. Sana Jardin is not only about having a powerful scent but is also focused on making a change! For further information, visit the Sana Jardin website or have a look at @sanajardin on social media.

If you thought candles were just for women, then think again. LEGNA London has created candles especially for men, with the philosophy that candles shouldn’t be marketed solely to women. By creating a non-obvious manly product, LEGNA dedicates their candles to anyone of any sex, to couples and to friends. They draw their inspiration from an array of cultures from around the world which celebrate manhood.

Hand poured in the UK, made of biodegradable, natural, blended wax. The ingredients are composed of non-petroleum renewable resources and therefore burn clean. Strength gives off a delicate smoky and woody, yet sweet, aroma. Strength was created to celebrate the physical and spiritual strength of men. Unity is composed of comforting spicy ingredients with woody notes, designed to celebrate the brotherhood of man. Wisdom is comprised of musky leather notes, creating a warm and luxurious fragrance for people to relax around and share their experiences.

The dry-down of the scent reveals a deep blend of smooth sandalwood, dusky tonka bean and a lingering trail of sensuous musk and moss. This scent certainly gains momentum, all encapsulated in a sleek, geometric bottle.

You will also learn about how to play up the base notes and end up creating your very own fragrance each day! This course is perfect for anyone deeply interested in the world of fragrance, as it is a bit of an investment at £800, but you will have the skill and the knowledge for life. Karen also offers one day and weekend workshops that are less in depth, but more of an overview of the world of perfumes. Dior x Harrods Exhibition and Café

So-Dior-Harrods-Exhibition-10

As fashion lovers, whenever we get the chance to explore the history and making of brands names, we take advantage of it. That’s why when we at The Amazing Blog got word of the new Dior Exhibition and Café opening in Harrods, we knew we had to make our way over to it. The exhibition was absolutely breathtaking. Each of the nine dazzling sections featured the iconic aspects of Dior that have helped to make it the legendary name that it is today. One room features a sparkling display of J’adore Dior perfume bottles and glistening gold vintage dresses while another room features a giant white classic Dior handbag in the centre of the room; also a video of the creation of the bags is projected onto the bright white surface of the giant bag. This exhibition successfully combines French savoir-faire and British charm to create the ultimate Dior experience for anyone who lives and breathes fashion, such as I do.

003When you’re done with the exhibit head on over to the Dior café. This café features a menu of food that evokes Monsieur Dior’s love for 18th century décor and passion for scrumptious French food - apparently the Lobster Sandwich is a must. Although, if you are unable to make a reservation, I would make my way down to the Harrods food hall and pick up some of their limited edition Dior cupcakes. I mean... what’s more perfect than high-fashion and cupcakes?

The exhibition is open from March 16th-April 14th and is completely free. So when you get the chance, make your way over to Harrods to experience this one of a kind high-fashion exhibition.

Joe & Seph's Gourmet Popcorn

While I love popcorn as much as the next person, I am loathe to spend the best part of £10 on a carton of the stuff at the cinema, especially when the contents are, more often than not, either too sweet or too salty, and generally have the consistency of soggy cardboard. Much of the supermarket stuff suffer from similar problems; and the flavour options are very limited, unlike their crisp counterparts. However, having spotted this gaping niche in the market of confectionery, Joe & Seph’s have come to the rescue. Producers of gourmet popcorn, the story began following numerous trips to the US in which they would return with the crème de la crème of popcorn, and in turn they went about making their very own British variety. The standard way of making popcorn is to pop it in an oil and sugar mix; with Joe & Seph’s popcorn the corn is air-popped and coated in a caramel made from fresh butter, hence the rather superior taste.

With an array of mouth-watering flavours on offer – from Brandy Butter, to Caramel & White Chocolate through to Toffee Apple & Cinnamon and beyond, Joe & Seph’s have also recently brought out a savoury range, perfect for those missing a sweet tooth. These include Goats Cheese & Black Pepper, Mature Irish Cheddar and Blue Cheese, Walnut & Celery, making Joe and Seph’s the poshest popcorn in town.

Available from Whole Foods, Selfridge, Harrods and at a number of independent retailers, stockists can be found online here. And with the gang at The Amazing Blog having tried and tested Joe & Seph’s Gourmet Popcorn, it’s safe to say it tastes every bit as good as it sounds!
